RE: Bill Self on BE expansion-
If we can get something on par of what the B12 North schools are getting... we can seriously ask them to leave. At this point, we really can't unless you can negotiate with networks that we have an agreement in place that KU, KSU and MU will be coming along if the money is on par or more than what big12 is getting.

RE: Bill Self on BE expansion-
I put together some amatuer calculations of a new tv contract and conference network and came out to about $8.5 mil per all sports team using samples numbers/percentages from Big 10's network and ACC's new ESPN contract, but it only relates to the current lineup of 8/16 Big East we have. So if we are at 8.5 per team, add TCU, KU, KState, Mizzou, what kind of boost do you guys think that would get us to. I'm sure the BE office is running these same projections with their list of canidates and frankly probably some off the record information from tv executives.

Could we get to 11-12 mil per school and is that enough for the Big 12's to say that is enough for us to get back on to an even playing field?

Notre Dame has a ton of value to a potential Big East Network because if the game is in a Big East building the Big East would have the rights to show the game.

You are missing the point; that game would never be on the Big East Network. Any deal we sign would be with a national TV rights holder, with secondary games on the BEN. ANY game featuring Notre Dame will be immiediately picked up by the national partner, thus the game will NEVER be on a BEN, just like every game currently featuring Notre Dame where another conference holds the rights. Now you might be able to incorporate them into your national TV contract, but there really isn't much point in doing so, especially if you have to cut them in on the deal, since you are still only talking about one extra game every other year (ND already plays 2 BE teams most years anyway, meaning you tend to hold one game already).

At best, ND should be the good partner they claim to be, and show up at the negotitations and state their intention to play X amount of games, but not try to get any return for it. Do you see them trying to get any money from the Big Ten contract, even though they play 2-3 Big Ten teams per year guaranteeing the B10 at least one ND game per year? How about the Pac 10 contract, seeing as how they play USC and Stanford on the road in alternating years? They didn't try to take any money from Navy, who gives CBS a Notre Dame game every other year. game due to their CBS college sports contract, did they?

To give ND a piece of our pie because they play some BE games, would be an even worse case of ND greed than anything they have done to the Big East.
