Danny Mac will talk about NIU in a couple of contexts. Sometimes it's giving credit to NIU, and sometimes its in relation to his status as an alum of Ball State. But that's not the major reason why I decided to post this.

I've been silent on this issue mostly because I didn't hear exactly what was said, but as a regular listener to B&B, the show in which Goff is a producer, I will give this warning to everyone that has taken issue with this.

DO NOT CALL IN DURING THE SHOW TODAY AND TRY TO AIR GRIEVANCES ON THE AIR!!

For the love of God, keep your mouth shut and bury your phone in your couch if you have the temptation. I remember an incident last January when members of a Bears forum took issue with something B&B said in regards to an effort on their part, an incredibly stupid one IMO, to raise money to fund a billboard advocating the firing of Lovie Smith. Everyone on that board got enraged, called in, started yelling like childish idiots, and only made themselves look like meatballs, fools, and embarassed everyone that has ever called themselves a Bears fan.

So resist the temptation and just keep your mouth shut. If you can't avoid the temptation, at least put it into written form and send it by e-mail. That way you at least look like you put some thought into your point.

I think this board has done our part. Jeff Compher is aware of the situation, realizes a bunch of NIU fans are pissed off and will make contact with the station (Thanks to Travis for contacting the Jeff Compher.)

I am glad so many like myself heard this *******'s unprofessional comments and are taking this somewhere. Actaully, I thought he was drunk for a second. As so many have, I suggest contacting WSCR management and NIU athletic department, which Ihave and will do. This station owes it to NIU listeners to have this guy reprimanded, if not suspended and an apology sent to the university as well as a public apology on the air.

As anyone who has listened to Goff, you will know he is just a cheap fill in with a lack of general knowledge of sports. It seems to be the case of many personalites there, since in the last year or so they have gotten rid of many older, knowledgeable people who don't bring in the numbers and aren't trying out for Second City by giving a comedy routine. The worst being Boer's and Bernstein who have seen their numbers fall. Perhaps all the talk of listeners being stupid, "not listening" to what they say as well as all the gay innuendos and ***** talk is getting tiresome to those over the age of 25.

We are headed in the right direction on this. But we need to stand strong in this and get everyone on board with emails to both NIU and WSCR.

Seems like it would be hard for fans to sound dumber than the radio hosts. With the Score though, it's always a waste of time to call in anyway, and certainly with an issue like this. I've already tuned out that radio station so I couldn't care less. I'll listen to WSCR for the NIU game and post-game show if need be, but it ends there.

I don't know the ENTIRE situation but I know U of I used to be affiliated with 670 and I Heard they ended the deal too due to similar situations as this. UIHuskie, help me out here..

The Score just does not like college sports. Unless Notre Dame is making a big run of course. Even during 2005 Illini Basketball they constantly called that team overrated. This isn't an NIU hatred thing.. it's a college sports hatred thing.

Regardless, pretty damn stupid on their part.

Wow, would be interested to know if Illinois had the same issue. Wouldn't surprise me. If you can't say "Da Bearz" 3 times fast with a polish sausage lodged in your heart and have Ditka posters in your living room, you don't belong on the Score.

I can never tell if they filter their callers and/or the dumbest pople call these shows. B & B is sometimes like listening to 560 or 890 conservative talk. They kiss each others rears on EVERY subject, then that of some callers and while other callers they just want to get into it with right away and show their superior intellect by making fun of the caller. Grant it they may not be the smartest people, but they don't have to ridiclue them, as it seems Goff has joined in with.

If something does happen, you know this Goff joker is going to come out guns a' blazing next week. He'll knock off the school and conference criticism, and come after us NIU fans like no tomorrow.

Not saying we all can't handle it, just be prepared because my guess is that station management will say something along the lines of

"Keep it cool with the school, go after the fans for being thin skinned and weak sauce etc."

I have already heard back from JC -- the school will be talking with the Score later today.

In my opinion, a few more e-mails to Mitch wouldn't hurt, though. I'll be sending one in a bit.

Lord Stanley - you are correct, that clown will be talking on the air. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if B&B talk about this week.

The funny thing is, our game this week starts at 3.... meaning it'll run EVEN LATER into Goff's "show."

I think what will be realized (if it hasn't already) is that this guy not only ridiculed the school, team, conference, fans and announcer, but that he embarrassed himself and the station. You don't go that far out of your way to make your point for no reason and not to face repremand. He was getting a lot of calls and texts I think from the 815's as he called them and that set him off even more. He made it personal and stepped over the line when he personally attacked the school and fans. To me, they will get the point that a few people were listening and did get offended. Understand they didn't gain any new fans from this, they will only lose some. I think the school will handle this accordingly with The Score and they will act accordingly. They are bigger than one clown that not many have heard of trying to make a name for himself on a dead Saturday night in October cause he lost out on HIS time. They have much to lose and can't afford the bad reputation. Not the reputation from what NIU fans think, but the one they will have to deal with in signing their next intercollegiate broadcasting contract be it with a NW, U of I, ND or DePaul in the future. They would not put up this crap, nor should or will we.
