Watched "Smokey and the Bandit" last night.. How is it that one movie can still be funny this many years later?

incorrect. not that what you say is untrue, but that was the golden age of cinematic comedy, at least for this 30 something

Sheriff Branford: The fact that you are a sheriff is not germane to the situation.

Buford T. Justice: The god d* Germans got nothin' to do with it.

A bit of trivia:

1. Burt Reynold's dad was a policeman in a small town in Florida. The name Buford T. Justice was the actual name of the police chief his father served under.
2. Gleason much of his character on Reynold's recollections of his father, including the way he reduced "son of a b* to "sumb*".
3. Junior Justice was played by Mike Henry, who was a linbacker at USC and then later with the Pittsburgh Steelers and LA Rams. He starred as the title role in three Tarzan movies back in the 60s.

Jr. was also in the original "Longest Yard" wasn't he as one of the guards?

I agree, there's a slight drop off in 2 and 3 was horrible. It's like a Rocky marathon, you don't watch 1, 2, 3, and 4, then pretend 5 didn't happen and then watch Balboa (I've heard some didn't like it, I did, I thought it wrapped up the story nicely). Or Star Wars, you can't watch the original trilogy and act like the prequels didn't happen.

Jr: Hey daddy...

Buford: Shut up, one sh*t at a time.

The one liners in there were just outstanding..

Big Enos: Son right there is the Bandit. He's a living legend.
Lil Enos: Daddy you know a living legend and an out of work bum look a lot alike.

Bandit: You know it must be a b*tch to find matching suits in a 48 extra fat and 12 dwarf.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 / BR
--Not a bad movie but the one thing that irks me about is is the last 30m of Super Villain show downs.... Electron then Green Goblin then Rhino.... Neither here nor there on Gwen Stacey's death.

Skyfall / BR
--Probably Craig's most perfect Bond movie to date. The main villain was decent and his story was about as deep as 006 from Goldeneye as to his motivations...

Quantum of Solace / dvd
--I liked the continuation of the Vesper storyline and the deep political intrigue it brought into play. I'm surprised his 3rd movie didn't get into Quantum but instead took a whole other route.

caught boyhood at the theater. richard linklarter delivered another gem. maybe you know what it's about. outside of some cheesy acting and poor dialogue, it was a marvel of a film. film over a period of 12 years, same actors. the only medium i can compare it to is war and peace and the italian mini series le meglio gioventu.

also watched she's gotta have it at some mechanic shop in the ghetto. this had to be the film that defined spike lee as an auteur. the cinematography was, the black and white, the introduction of the characters it was so f*cking artsy. love spike

Total Recall (new)/BR ex. cut
--While I still like the Mars angle better in the first one, I thought this one was a lot more suggestive although they do have more obvious tells. What kind of still gets me about the story though is, if Recall gives you these "real" memories why would they play you against them? Why would they pit you against your loved ones?

The Signal (IMDB Link)
Limited theater release. Available on Amazon Instant video now.

SciFi. Laurence Fishburne + 3 young nobodies. Sorta slow to start. But has a lot of twists and action in the last 30 minutes. Makes it worth the film. Has an indy feel to it.

Trailer doesn't do it justice. But might make you interested. In fact its one of those movies that its hard to make a trailer for without giving away some of the major plot points.

I like SciFi films but unlike many SciFi fans...I liked Moon and Prometheus...so use that a barometer if you are looking for a review barometer. Enjoy.

Richard Linklater gets it. He is probably the most underrated filmmaker in Hollywood. I've not seen anything by him that I have loved.

I watched the remake of "The Longest Yard" last night. I loved the original and enjoyed this version. I forget that Chris Rock had some excellent one liners in the movie.

The Wolverine / BR
--Extended cut. I love the story and the action. I'm kind of glad it felt more like a martial arts movie than a X Men movie. While I liked a lot of the elements of the fist movie XMen Origins--Wolverine including Sabretooth played by ____, and some of the other character drops and story lines I think that this one works just as well(arguably better) with all that stripped away.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure/NetFlix
--Cool 90's era comedy. Kind of starts Keanu off on his "surfer dude" vibe. The run ins with characters from history was the best part although when they get to the present, their interactions with the "future" to them was even better.

With Best Buy's sale on TV series I should be getting in South Park S17, Hannibal S2, Black Dynamite(animated tv series), and Legend of Kora Book 2 in in a few days.

I watched "A Good Day to Die Hard".. It was ok.. The series has dropped off.. I feel like it might be a way to transfer the McClain legacy to someone else since Bruce Willis is getting old.. I didn't feel like I wasted almost 2 hours. I enjoyed most of it.. It's just a drop off from the first 3.

That was #5 right? or #4? After the first "core" 3 movies I think 4 and 5 were ok as far as action movies....but both felt like lets milk a little more out of the series.

Live Free or Die Hard
A Good Day to Die Hard
