RE: 2009 MAC Total Home Attendance
Neutral site games may be reported separately, but in the end the "host" team can use that attendance figure in terms of their meeting the NCAA so-called 15K avg attendance minimum required.

The NCAA doesn't recognize neutral site games. Officially, Toledo's record was 5-6 and our defense officially gave up 38 fewer points than some people think.

CMU will have 6 or 7 home games and will host Navy, Michigan State, and WMU.
Is the Michigan State game at Lansing or Ford Field?
The 2012 game against Michigan State is at beautiful Kelly Shorts Stadium in Mt. Pleasant, MI!
Is CMU planning to expand Kelly Shorts stadium for the matchup?
Yes, the article I read stated that they would add 10,000+ in temporary seating.
Make it permanent!
Until we fill our current stadium (32,000) regularly, I can't see adding additional permanent seating. CMU's attendance this season was just under 20,000 per game. Historically, we don't do much better than that. We averaged about 21,000 in the early 90s, when CMU was winning the MAC and/or challenging for the title, and about 23,000 last season. 20K or so bodies in our present stadium looks OK. In a 40,000 seat stadium...not so much.
Before everyone starts asking what's wrong...given CMU's on-campus enrollment of 17-18,000 per year and Mt. Pleasant's population of 30,000 or so, I'd say we're doing quite well. Commuters from SE Michigan or the Quad-Cities (Saginaw, Bay City, Midland, Flint) have a 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hour drive to attend games, after all.
Of course, if Michigan continues losing next season and MSU keeps losing players to random acts of thuggery, we may just start picking up some fair-weather Big 11 fans...
The capacity of CMU is 30,200 according to Wilkipedia. Perhaps you are including overflow capacity in the number?

That's not a really fair claim. A lot of people don't think we could get a Wisconsin or an Ohio State at the Doghouse.
But many people do believe it is possible to get a Minnesota or Indiana at the Doghouse. It just hasn't been done. Yet.

Too bad it's against the rules to include Toledo's home game against Ohio State. If it were allowed, we'd jump all the way to fifth best attendance.
C-USA drew nearly 2 million. Those totals are off.

Gee, I wonder who lead the MAC in gate receipts?
NIU used to be the leader here hands down. What happened?
Only 3 home saturday afternoon games and one of them vs an FCS team. Playing 2 non sat home games will screw up attendance numbers for anybody

Also surprised that the Big 12 had a higher total attendance than the Big 10 with PSU, OSU & Michigan in the top 4.

But look at NW, IU and Minn. attendance and you just might have abetter understanding of why they are not higher than the big 12.

Football has become a lot more popular at the lower level schools (Iowa State, Kansas St, Kansas, Oklahoma State ect.) since the formation of the Big XII. The Big XII has been a huge success from a rivalry perspective.
If the Big Ten goes to 16 by adding Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska they could combine with Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois to form a fantastic Big Ten West football division.

Comcast/ESPN Attendance Splits
Comcast--3 games--total attendance--55,335--average--18,452
(1 night game, 2 mid-afternoon games--all on Saturdays)
ESPN-----3 games--total attendance--33,980--average--11,327
(1 Saturday 11 am game, 2 Thursday nights--1 at 6:30, 1 at 5 pm.)
One of the Comcast games was a FCS game--didn't matter.
