One of the biggest things that Warde Manuel manged to do in Buffalo was to get butts in the seats. Buffalo's attendance was half of its current number the year he first came on board.

There was a nice crowd I thought when Buffalo hosted Ohio mid week on ESPN.

Buffalo has now won the MAC in football and has a team that is at least good enough to expect success.

If they wanted to kick out EMU and move to some true geographic divisions it could be interesting.

West: NIU, WMU, CMU, Ball St, Miami, Bowling Green
East: Temple, Buffalo, Ohio, Kent St, Akron, Toledo

The MAC should have forced Temple's hand in basketball while they were down to join. Now they've got a top 20 team again.

Footnote: I believe WMU had the highest Average Home Attendance of 20,330. WMU was one of the few that only had 5 home games, while most others had 6.

Not to pick a nit but the OSU-UT game was officially a home game for Toledo. 2009 attendance=153,151.

CMU had only 5 home games with no big draw teams this year, Friday after Thanksgiving Day with no students in town and game that didn't mean anything, and a Wednesday night game. UGH!

Can't 'kick them out' we need an even number of teams for BBall... Maybe if they went FB only but would oyu really want to count on Temple sticking around very long?

The NCAA, rightfully, counts those games as a neutral site 'home' game. Sorry but when discussing how the conference is doing attendance wise counting games more than an hour from the stadium full of enemy fans is not relevant..

Ohio had home games on 11/21 and 11/27 with students on break for Thanksgiving lowering total numbers.

It happens. Weather was not the best this year in Athens either. It still was enough to take home the MAC total home attendance championship.

Seriously - could there be a more disingenuous stat than "total attendance" when you play 6 games averaging 17, 947 - when two other teams (that just happen to only play 5 home games each) out averaged you by about 10%? That’s 20% more home games!

Congratulations WMU on winning the average attendance crown for the MAC even though you weren’t in the running for a conference or division title. If you’re in the running all through the season as CMU, OhioU and Temple were, one would expect them to have conference leading averages – but WMU did this in a year that they weren’t even bowl eligible. THAT is a loyal fan base.
