Because I don't remember "Private" being part of the name when I attended there. Perhaps the scouting services note that so as not to confuse it w/the public school, Haverford High School ( where Steve Joachim atended.)

It is indeed 'The Haverford School'. I guess they add 'Private' to distinguish between the private and public school.

If a kid commits early to a MAC school and he's good enough the big boys will still come calling. Early verbals mean absolutely nothing, other than giving the kid some security to have something to fall back on while he still fields offers from bigger schools.
