Keep or Drop Temple?
Now, this shouldn't be moved to the Smack Room. I'd like to get an honest, anonymous collective reading on how the population of this message board feels about Temple Football as the #13 team in the football side of the conference and not participating in the other sports. To be fair, Temple Basketball does play four or five games against MAC teams every season as part of the contractural agreement of keeping Temple Football in the conference. The agreemnt between Temple and the MAC expires after the 2010 season, spring 2010.

Thanks for participating.

As long as everyone shows good sportsmanship, it won't be moved. But knowing our group, I'd say the clock is ticking.

Keep us until our average attendance is in the 30K+ area, we continue to win and the BE wants us back.

RE: Keep or Drop Temple?
While I think Temple was a solid addition to the MAC, I hate the odd numbers for football. Not sure whether I would prefer Temple gone or add a new team- 14 seems unwieldy. We'll be in the Big Ten before the contract is up so I guess it won't be our problem.

Whatever happens, this unbalanced schedule between the divisions is not fair and needs to be changed.

Great. The poll's about to be spammed by Temple fans voting for the status quo.

Why would anyone vote to extend the contract but not look to find a 14th member? Do you like our scheduling situation? Do you like the championship game existing only because the NCAA grants us a waiver?

I voted to drop them. How could any MAC fan seriously believe that the Temple athletic administration is committed to the MAC? Let's have both sides cut their losses, and move on.

We can be Facebook friends, secretly jealous of each other yet reveling in each other's failures.

RE: Keep or Drop Temple?
Dumb ass question. Temple is a member in good standing.

The question is what does the MAC see as it future? Does it really believe in -13- members for football? Is someone(not Temple) in the MAC about to take a fall?

95% of the MAC fans want Temple as a FULL member. 95% of the Temple fans only want football for now with eyes open for a better opportunity. Common sense tells you, that is not a basis for a good relationship. The MAC did Temple a big favor by being a weigh station as they get their house in order. Temple has played more MAC teams in BB the last couple of years and added exposure to the Philly market.

IMO, Temple is overall good for the MAC, but I want more.

RE: Keep or Drop Temple?
If Temple can assist in bringing a 14th member they can stay as football only, if not, then they should go bye bye.

The MAC is not good for Temple Basketball... bottom line...

Temple is "now"... good for MAC football...

Which Basketball Conference would you choose 03-idea

RE: Keep or Drop Temple?
Two ideas:

-The MAC should drop the requirement that all schools have to play FBS football and allow EMU and Kent State to drop down to FCS.

-Add a school that could help us in football to balance the schedule. One example would be Illinois State.

The MAC then would be:

10 all sport members (MU, OU, UB, UA, BG, UT, WMU, CMU, BSU, NIU)
2 FB only members (ISU, TU)
2 non-FB members (EMU, KSU)

Provides for nice regional balance and maintains the football championship game.

Yes, I was thinking parting ways with EMU would be a good start...
