If there's a school that can afford the buyout, it's Notre Dame.

I understand that, but that would be the dick move of all dick moves on his part.

Yeah, but Brian Kelly is the kind of guy who would pull a move like that without even blinking.

Could you blame him for the opportunity to go to ND? He is no saint but it is quite a stretch to call it one of the worst moves by a coach (I won't stoop to JHG's vulgarity though).

Have you been paying any attention to college football? This happens all the time. That is what buyout clauses are for.

Signing an extension the previous summer and then leaving after the season?

Au contraire---it would provide just the excuse ND has been looking for to get out of their lousy exclusive NBC contract in exchange for part of our lucrative MAC ESPN contract and, gosh, they could get to share the thrill of playing on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights (but not Saturday afternoons)---and soon their disgruntled fan base would be a thing of the past 02-13-banana

ND needs to really go for the gusto with this next hire so clearly it's going to Lloyd Carr doing the coaching and Matt Millen as the recruiting coordinator.

Urban Meyer.

He turned it down already and is already rolling at Florida.

All the recruits he needs in one state. Why would he leave that?
