I'd say the 44 extra dollars are justified.

My plan is 89 per month but I added 200 text messages for 5 bucks. So, 94 per month. I get 900 minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, unlimited ATT-ATT calls (including home service), and rollover. The phone is a Refurb 8GB that I bought for 99 bucks from ATT's website. I ordered it and they ported my Sprint number as soon as I received it. The 16GB refurb is 149. I gotta tell you, I've never been one that's "in to phones", but I have REALLY enjoyed this thing. 99 bucks is nothing for what you get. It's a friggin' computer running OS X. I bought a refurb because it's an Apple refurb. Apple refurbs are known for their quality.

You cannot go wrong with an iphone. I have apps out the ass to include a dictionary that was 38 megs, several cookbooks, 3 apps for mixed drinks, test preps for things like the LSAT and MBA, a book on networking, apps for networking for ping, telnet, tracert, etc., hell, there really IS an app for everything. If you have an ipod touch, you know what I mean. The camera is also 100 times better than my Samsung A600.

I'm a mac user and I like for all of my electronics to be apple. I think I'll use it to update my collection. How much do apps cost?

I'd say the majority are either free or 99 cents. There are a "few" that are above 10 bucks going up to 49.99 (Highest I've seen), but everything you need will either be free or cost 99 cents. ...and for 99 cents, you get your pennies worth. Some of the ones I have I'd have paid 10 bucks for. If you have iTunes, just check out the App Store.

It's funny that this came up, b/c there's a thread in my hometown paper where someone keeps chanting this mantra. I thought the old analog phones put out enough power that there were concerns, but the digital ones haven't shown any problems.

I have to admit - I saw yet another article about the danger of radiation from depleted uranium, and started to research whether I could by a key fob made of depleted uranium anywhere. I have to say I'd be slightly less comfortable with a cell phone in my pocket than with depleted uranium, but I'm really not bothered about the risk by either one.

Safe? Don't know about safe, but I DID lose a Mofuggin' 13 page Sociology paper doing that. I was outside of Ft. Hood in a hotel and it got so hot the damn thing shut off. I lost the entire mofuggin' thing! 03-banghead

I've never actually gone over 300 minutes in a month. I just feel that a cell phone is much more than just that now. I plan to start a business one day and they'll be a hell of a help by then. It can be my source for charts, invoices, email, the whole nine yards.

On iTunes there's a button called "ItunesU". Stanford offers many courses, IIRC all free, that teach you how to create apps for the iPhone. You create one that 5 million people want, and sell it for .99 cents, you're set.

I hate laptops just as much as I do cell phones.

You can also Jailbreak your iPhone and get every app on earth for free. It's shady but jailbreaking has its uses - I jailbroke mine so I could put Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Playstation roms onto it, and I can't tell you how fun it is. I don't download cracked (free) apps because it is very illegal and it's just not something I want to do, but I do know of sites that have thousands upon thousands of popular cracked apps.

There was an app called "I'm Rich!" that had absolutely no purpose, yet cost $1,000 at the app store. The sad thing is, like 11 people bought it. 02-13-banana

My coworker was telling me about that "I'm Rich" app. Wasn't anything but a picture of a jewel.

The only thing that I am afraid of is the fact that anytime I buy something Apple, I always get the item when the new version comes out. But I may head down to the Apple store today to see what's up.
