i agree. From what i have been reading there is a clear number 2 pick and that is rubio. NOTHING excites me after him. If we dont belove in him, then we should definitely trade it.
Am I the only person that would rather have Thabeet than an 18 year old PG?
No your not the only one. I'll take the 7'3 force in the middle who looks to be another Mutumbo type than can own the paint for the next 10+ years. Rubio is a nice player. But PGs aren't that hard to come by. Quality 7 footers don't grow on trees. You don't pass on the chance to get one. Not to mention Thabeet only started playing BBall at 15 and has a ton of upside.
That's what I'm thinking, take the 7' 3" center, how often do you get a chance at that? Who was it who said you can't coach 7 footers?
If not that pick, I'd take Tyreke. If you need a point guard you might as well get a big physical one and start playing your own brand of basketball with slashers at all positions.
I'll say it again. I don't want any 7'3" guy who routinely gets his ass handed to him by guys that are 6'6" and 6'7".

Routinely. Ahh...following groupthink.
Sure Blair has a crazy good game in their first meeting this past year, but Blair did much of his damage while Thabeet was out of the game with foul issue. In any event, Blair completely outplayed Thabeet in their first game.
However, their second game--Thabeet 14 points, 13 rebounds, 5 blocks. Blair 8 points 8 rebounds. Appears to me, Thabeet got the better of Blair.

Yeah I like how people are writing off Thabeet for one bad game. Keep in mind he hasn't been playing basketball very long and hes still learning. But as someone else mentioned, you cant teach size and he has it in spades.

RE: NTR: Memphis get's #2 pick in the NBA Draft
I posted this in February on the Grizzlies message board:
I gotta admit, tonight was my first time watching either play. Thabeet is SLOOOOOOW! He was the last one down the court on every play. He might fit well with a more traditional, half court style team, but I don't think he fits into the system we are trying to put into place here.
I wasn't high on him then and I sure ain't high on him now. JUST SAY NO TO THABEET!

Showed out? He had 6 points and 3 assists in the gold medal game.

6 points
3 assists
6 rebounds
3 steals
Those stats, for a 17 year old playing against the best of the best - with an injury - are pretty impressive.
And it's not just the stats. He controlled that game.
Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul praised him after the game...that's gotta mean something.

Shawn Bradley, Darko Milicic, Gheorghe Muresan, and Manute Bol all disagree with you
