Oh, this should be good. You hate gay people and this guy was shot and killed in cold blood, and recognizing that makes me bigoted...

Oh do tell...

1) Where did I ever say I hate gay people? Do tell.

2) You come on here and bash people who have different ideas than you do...you call them names, you claim to read their minds, you fabricate wrongs and "evils" that they've done, slandering them repeatedly. Yeah, I'd say that is bigoted activity.

You can't find enough legitimate points to argue against, and you certainly don't have legitimate points to support your positions, so you have to create all sorts of horror stories about people you disagree with.

What's next? Jews want to rule the world? Christians are cannibals?

I dont have to make up the hate thats in this thread, genius.

I am bigoted alright, I have this strange idea that people shouldn't be murdered for having views different than mine. That's an idea that is apparently not shared by most of the regulars on this forum.

the fact that you'd try to turn this on me, with a straight face, after all of the hatred, intolerance, and absolute hyperbole enabling it in this thread, speaks volumes about your lack of credibility.

Milk wasn't killed because he was Gay, the same nut that shot him killed the San Fran mayor who wasn't gay, and for the same reason he shot Milk....he was nuts, and also had lost his job if I recall correctly.

not that facts will get in the way of an agenda though.

Do you think California would be considering any of this if Milk was straight? Recognize God in a classroom and you'll invite protests and lawsuits. Recognize homosexuality in a classroom and you're a hero. Who's the bigot?

You just can't point to it. And how about me specifically, since you addressed the comment to me. This is not the first time I've called you on this, and it's not the first time that you balk when challenged.

Quote:I am bigoted alright, I have this strange idea that people shouldn't be murdered for having views different than mine. That's an idea that is apparently not shared by most of the regulars on this forum.

Really? Show me any evidence that folks are advocating murder strictly b/c someone's views differ? C'mon, you make these statement, how come you always back down when asked to validate them.

Quote:the fact that you'd try to turn this on me, with a straight face, after all of the hatred, intolerance, and absolute hyperbole enabling it in this thread, speaks volumes about your lack of credibility.

Ahh, now you're back in attack mode. With one quick statement you try to absolve yourself from your unfounded slander, then make some generalized character attack on me and my credibility...all while engaging in the hyperbole you criticize. You are aces when it comes to hypocrisy, but as I said before, save if for the truly stupid. Your simple-minded Orwellian double-speak isn't even difficult to sift thru.

Heck, I say lets have Lee Harvey Oswald Day, John Wilks Booth Day, Baby Rapers Day, Alcoholics Anonymous Day, Drug Addict Appreciation Day, and even Wino Day so our kids can get a REALLY TRUE SENSE of the Real World as RobertN sees it.

So stupid 'til it's pitiful.

People can marry their cats if they get enough votes together.

Do it some more, please. Show your colors.

Yes, once again your circular reasoning is just astounding. It's true b/c you say it's true. Tell you what Chuckles, I'll pass on your overt intolerance of people whose ideas differ from yours.

LOL, so you agree that people that make statements such as this are nuts?

Quote:An intense, rigid man, White revealed how he saw the city in a message to voters: "You must realize there are thousands upon thousands of frustrated, angry people such as yourselves waiting to unleash a fury that can and will eradicate the malignances which blight our city." The city was in danger from "splinter groups of radicals, social deviates and incorrigibles," he said.

Good to know.

You're an asshat defending the indefensible.

go on, post again, support the hatred. Support decrying the legacy of a guy that was murdered for his beliefs. What a ******* you are.

I disapprove of intolerance just as much as anyone, but this isn't an issue of hate. It's an issue of what should have a place in the classroom.

Civil rights issues should never be discussed in a classroom. Okay.

Artifice, This Calif. Gay Day thing is abominable. And you are the one favoring it. I don't give a d@mn about gays, behind closed doors they do as they please. When they get in our faces about it, it's disgusting. They need to crawl back under the rock they came from.
Artifice you have made some good points in the past but increasing you are known as a coward, moral degenerate.

For the real story:

Quote:California Senate committee passes Harvey Milk Day

The California State Senate Education Committee yesterday passed SB 572 on a 7 to 2 vote. Voting to establish Harvey Milk Day in public schools was Republican Abel Maldonado of Santa Maria and all six Democrats on the committee: Gloria Romero of East Los Angeles, Elaine Alquist of San Jose, Loni Hancock of Alameda County, Carol Liu of Pasadena, Alex Padilla of L.A.'s San Fernando Valley and Joe Simitian of Palo Alto. Voting against SB 572 were two Republican state senators: Bob Huff of Glendora and Mark Wyland of Carlsbad.

Last year, the same bill (then numbered AB 2567) passed the Democrat-controlled Legislature, but was vetoed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. In March of this year, a poll by SurveyUSA found that only 1 out of 5 Californians support making Harvey Milk's birthday a statewide "day of significance."

The Legislative Counsel's Digest for SB 572 states, "This bill would provide that the Governor proclaim May 22 of each year as Harvey Milk Day, and would designate that date as having special significance in public schools and educational institutions and would encourage those entities to conduct suitable commemorative exercises on that date."

The text of SB 572 states that "On Harvey Milk Day, exercises remembering the life of Harvey Milk and recognizing his accomplishments as well as the contributions he made to this state" should be conducted; specifically, "all public schools and educational institutions are encouraged to observe...and...conduct suitable commemorative exercises."

Typical. Let's review all of the inaccuracies:

1) "coming to California Schools" - this ones great because it's wrong twice: a) it's only passed committee and b) it passed committee last year too, before it was VETOED

2) How wrong is it to honor a guy who correctly (i.e. peacefully) fought the type of closed minded bigotry that passes as accepted here? I swear to God above that it wouldn't shock me to read that one of you applauded the fact that he was assasinated, murdered in cold blood, along with the Mayor, for his views.

This guy fought the likes of the roster of this board and was killed for it, and a couple of Cali state Senators think that maybe that should be remembered, and you dipshits are ranting and raving about people marrying cats. Pathetic.

Abel Maldonado is the guy the Republicans have selected to change the democrat/socialist/green party hold on California and then retake the nation. He has been pimped out by the Republican party at every event possible. If you remember he gave a speech at the Republican Convention (reminiscent of the Obama speech 4 years prior).

Gosh the Republicans really are clueless.

Now back to the topic...Should the schools have a day for everyone that is martyred for their cause? If so, I guess we should expect the CA schools to have days for all of the disciples of Jesus and the 9/11 hijackers.

In the future, I'll try to support public executions of people who have harmed no one if it will get me back in the good graces of God. I fear His wrath on this one.

I'll give you some credit though SMN, at least you're honest about your intolerance.

whats he a martyr for? politicians? Why not have a Moscone day?
both were shot simply because they both stopped the killers re-instatement to some board, dude flipped out and went on a rampage over it.

I think he intended to kill Willie Brown too, the black ex-Mayor of San Fran who was an active pol at the time, on TV alot now. reasonable guy for a Dem.

they are just trying to use a dead Gay guy from the State, to justify this in schools. How could anyone dare to oppose honoring a guy who was murdered afterall?

Intolerance? Like the homos in the above Last Supper photo? California is singling out a man based on his gayness and nothing else, you even confirmed it. Where are the schools mentioning Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, George Patton, Gerald Ford....? This gay guy contributed more to the state than 3 presidents and a general?
