The republicans do not have a leader.
Nor do they have a message.
This is particularly troublesome right now because the other party has a bad message and leadership that is at least inexperienced if not inept.

I tend to agree with you here, which makes Rush an opportunist, self promoter. Just like any politician...

Difference being, at least, ostensibly, Politicians have to answer to the media and their entire constituency. Rush has himself insulated where he doesn't have to answer to anyone.

When you "rise" above it by selling out core principals of what you supposedly believe yes, it is an awful quality to have.

See that's the issue with this pie in the sky, let's hold hands, sing together and "rise above" crap people like to peddle. They're only all for it when it's the other guy that sells out his beliefs to make it happen. When these people see a supposed conservative jump on board the Obama stimulus bill, or jump on board with nationalized health care they sing "Hooray!! look how enlightened they are to do that." while those of us who are real conservatives cringe and point out, rightly, that they're sell outs.

BI partisanship means both sides give a little and get a little. Right now, it's Obama's way or the highway. That's his right. He doesn't need to compromise. But when people who call themselves conservatives jump on board with his socialistic policies they're not enlightened or bi-partisan, they're sellouts or liars. Neither of which is good.

Try re-reading the three or so post involved in this thread. You said what can the reublicans do. He responded that they can fillibuster. I don't want to speak for him but in my opinion, no, they should not fillibuster but I don't think that there is any doubt that the republicans WILL use it. THe way the republicans are rallying around Rush, I would not at all be surprised if ALL republicans-including the three you believe are democrats-will not vote for anything Obama wants going forward.

There may be a few Dems who are seeing the error of this porkuslus spending, and will vote with Repubs. More Dems will loose in '10 mainly because these arrogant bastards passed a $1 trillion bill and did not even read it.

The American people can see this Hippocratic BS. Then in '12 ObamaMessiahCommunist will be out on his butt.

Those on the left look at it this way:

Obama succeeds = US succeeds.
Obama fails = US fails.

I look at it differently:

Obama succeeds = US fails.
Obama fails = US succeeds.

I want the US to succeed. If I believed that success for Obama made it more likely that the US would succeed, I would want him to succeed. At this point, I see no basis for that connection.

I don't really care whether the US succeeds because of Obama or despite him, as long as the US succeeds. At this point, I believe it will have to happen despite him, if it happens at all.
