To bad the cheerleading no-shows didn't include the Screaming Banshee. One of the pluses of a large crowd is it drowns out her shrieks.
Don't ruffle my feathers on here bro. I have to stick up for Heather. I did it with some people complaining about her in the MACC lobby last year too. No one, and I specify NO ONE, has as much Kent State pride as that girl. I mean has anyone been to every men/women b-ball and every football game from pre-game to well after the game ends??? Its probably easy for people to anonymously name call her from a fake name on a message board. But I would rather listen to her carasmatic screaming, than people chanting B-S at a bad foul or dropping F-Bombs from the stands in the name of "supporting their team." If only 10 Kent State fans had the dedication that girl does.
If you would rather hear that scream throughout a game, that's fine. I'd rather not. It's grating and distracting. As far as I'm concerned, it's no different than the noise that comes out of foul-mouthed fans. She's just at the other end of spectrum.
That's great that she's a loyal fan, but even loyal fans need to tone it down and demonstrate some measure of control. For her, that means turning down the screams a few decibels. There's absolutely no reason why anyone needs to constantly scream at a high-pitched shrill all through a game. And showing pride for one's univerisity during a sporting contest doesn't give that person the license to spoil it for others who are trying to enjoy the game. It is possible to cheer and show excitement without going overboard.
I'm with Kent 76 when it comes fans cheering during games, but I go one step further in that I'm tired of fans intentionally trying to draw attention to themselves during games, as if we're there to watch them. I see this Heather as one of those fans, not only with the high-pitched screaming, but also with the number of times I've seen her chase down a camera man during a televised game in order to get onto TV. Hamming it up in front of the camera if it's pointed in your direction is one thing, but running through the stands to wherever the camera man is shooting and jumping in front of the people being televised at that moment is overdoing it.

Hey, we don't come in your forum and make fun of your dance team. Now, shoo!
I wasn't making fun of your dance team. There are a few other MAC schools I would make fun of before Kent's. Ever seen the Dazzlers? Holy crap. As far as the talent issue goes... there are talented people that choose not to be on the dance team on any campus for various reasons. I know one girl at Kent that left the dance team because of philosophical disagreements. Especially on our level, it's a big commitment with rewards that aren't commensurate to the cost. At bigger schools, some of those girls have scholarships. Not in the MAC, though.

Don't worry. I'm trying hard to make it a "Screaming Until Glass and My Eardrums Shatter" thread. If you're in luck, my screaming and bleeding ears will cancel out your dancing.

That's what happens when good teams go bad. If the team is no longer entertaining, fans start to focus on the other live performers at the game. If the Flashes' play continues to go south, we'll probably start seeing discussions about Bindel (the original Superfan), the two guys who used to dance during timeouts, little kids on the tricycles, and the Time Warner blimp.

It drives me nuts when I see guys tip rebound after rebound. You are not Dennis Rodman or even Ben Wallace, circa 2004. Brandon Parks is going to be the biggest guy on the floor in basically every game. He shouldn't be tipping rebounds. Parks does get a pass for one late rebound at the offensive end because a smaller player had his left arm wrapped up in front of an official. That is the type of call, however, in a close game that goes to the more aggressive team.

I agree, KStud. I was taught that you only tip the ball if you aren't in a position to grab the ball and shoot it. Of course, I played back in the Dark Ages. Kevin Mchale of Minnesota, then the Celtics, was the best at that that I can remember. He used the proper technique of keeping his arms extended, rather than bringing the ball down towards his abdomen, which is the naturaly reflexive thing to do.

He may be 3-5 inches taller than some but when they probably jump 5-10 inches higher than him and aren't quite as robotic in movement those rebounds aren't gimmees.
