RE: Ball St. vs. Buffalo
5th Ball State TO ... INT in the end zone, game over.

Ball State gave a couple TDs away, but the Buffalo defense came to play tonight as they did all year. They tackled well, hit hard, and forced fumbles. 31 fumbles coming into this game, 4 more tonight. Tonight, Buffalo was clearly the better team.

RE: Ball St. vs. Buffalo
Ball State ABSOLUTELY deserved that fate for being a bunch of wusses and turning down Boise State. And wow, the whining in this thread is pathetic about the announcers, GET OVER IT. But yeah, I'm glad Buffalo won, maybe Ball State will man up next time.

On a note of me not pissing everybody here off though, I'm VERY happy for Turner Gill. He's done a great job there, turning one of the worst programs in America into a conference champion in almost no time at all. Amazing what happens when you give a black coach a chance.

This is clearly not good for the MAC. What are the chances Ball St. doesn't end the season ranked in the top 25?

Shoutout to Mike Brey.

3 out of 119 coaches are black. That's a freaking joke.

I've been thinking all along that they may not be that good. Not that tough of a schedule until their last 3 or so games. Buffalo really played well tonite - and took full advantage of the BSU mistakes.

I do feel bad for BSU though - a bad end to a dream season.

Explain Willingham then, he's black isn't he? Yet he just finished 0-11. Is he fake black?

Gill is a good COACH. The color of his skin insignificant.

I agree that minorities need more exposure but the way you worded that was silly.

How many Hispanics, Hawaiian-Somoans, Indians, or Asians are head coaches? Why not whine about that too. And why does the NFL have an incredibly disproportionate % of black players compared to the general population - it must be because of reverse racsim. Yep, no one ever hires or selects the best candidates because they are the best, it's just rampant racism. Just like electing a black president - America is so rascist.

Get a clue!

(And for the clueless among you, the above is dripping with sarcasm.)

So black people are qualfied to play, but not to coach. Got it. That's why 70 percent of college players are black and about about 2 percent of their head coaches are. At least it makes sense now.

Perhaps I did, and if so, my bad. But there are dozens of coaches (who all happen to be white except Willingham, he would fall into this group as well) who prove they can't coach and keep getting jobs, while a lot of black coaches who are well qualified are ignored. It's a big problem.

That isn't it either.

A wise man on a college football broadcast (who happened to be black) once said, "Black assistant coaches don't coach the positions to earn necessary experience to become a head coach."

An interesting comment, but also one that needs to be looked at.

I think the truth is there are only 119 D1 head coaches, and I'd like to think those 119 were picked based on their merits and not their race. If there is a black coach who is better qualified than any of his rivals for a job and wants the job that he was passed over for I'd love to see an example.

I don't think there is one. What I think there is is a history of black coaches who have failed (because there is such a small sample) and people tend to believe that is the deciding factor. The real factor is what I first stated, there aren't enough black coaches who are on the proper track to become a head coach (and maybe that is the issue we should be talking about).

Locksley from U of I is a guy who I point out as a guy who should have taken a lower ranking head coaching job, instead he waited a season too long and now his star has fallen a bit in place of a few other guys. That is another example of a guy who probably could be coaching, but isn't because of something that is his choice.

Well hopefully that'll shut up the MAC lovers on here that were glad Ball St. declined Boise's invitation.

Have fun in the GMAC Bowl or whatever crappy bowl no one gives a crap about.

It's funny that Ball State was 12-0, and has absolutely nothing to show for it now.

Oh boy, here we go. OK, let's see. About 10% of the US population is black. So why aren't 10% of the football players black?? And why isn't that racist? Please answer these questions.

Ball State probably drops about 10 spots to 20-22 after this loss. One more loss and they are definitely out of the Top 25.

At least that's what the announcers said ... and that include 21 fumbles in the last 7 games. 31 fumbles sounds like a lot, but it works out to about 2.6/game which is still significant. The number gets a bit skewed by the Ohio / Buffalo game ... Ohio had 7 fumbles, 4 fumbles lost.

You can really tell that Buffalo was trying to rip the ball out after they had secured the tackle. Nate Davis's leap at the goal line was the classic "helmet on ball" that knocked the ball out.
