which constitutional Amendments are about as constitutional as it gets.

I say bailout the Auto Industry, if and only IF, the Unions are killed off for good(i.e. the Cancer of GM and Ford). Otherwise, die off already.

Toyota, Nissan, Honda..., all doing just fine with their Union Free plants in non-Union friendly states(i.e. Red State America). Yet idiots in Michigan continue to vote for the leeches.

I agree...I think the unions must GO if my stolen wages are to be used to bail them out. Its going to get interesting.
Yeah, those greedy bastards. How dare they make 60,000 a year. They must take less so the top management can get their millions in bonuses.

The guys at the top (mostly) have a superior education and experience in running the very busniesses that allows the union members to work and feed their families. It's these guys take all the risk. Your average unionized time-milking, uneducated, clock watcher pretty much has a job for life if he manages to not upset the union leadership. $60,000 a year to oil the robot that actually does the work seems too high for me.

Hey...When you decide to get in bed with the government....You need not complain about which side you sleep on. There is something that can be done to head this off....Do what MOST business do when faced with financial problems...cut wages...cut benefits...cut jobs and ride it out. OH NO...The unions want the automakers to take a handout from ME and allow them to keep on doing the same things that caused the problems in the first place.

I fully agree that the management should equally now share in the pain of wage cuts if they get a handout....I say they better start "cutting bars of soap in half" if they want taxpayer dollars.

This industry is a damn mess and the handwriting is on the wall that they can NOT compete anymore in the free market. They are dying a death of their own making. Unless they the industry, with concessions from the unions get their act together very quickly...It could be RIP Detroit.

Well, for a person with a so-called superior education, they sure are doing a good job of running the company into the ground.

As for making too much, what exactly do you do to deserve what you make? You went to school? Isn't that "elitist"? The thing you conservative claim to hate? Remember the "elite" crap you guys kept flinging at Obama? Maybe it is only ok to be "elitist" when it comes to republicans? THink about it..

What may I ask is that(see bold words above)? Build the crappy cars from the same crappy parts? It is now the worker's fault that the companies use crappy parts to build the cars?

.
Well Detroit has the perfect enemy coming to the White House Near you In January !!!!!! (Rated WTF for All Ages).

Big Oil and Big High Performance Auto makers better start re-tooling their plants for Hybrids and Hydrogen, Helium, and other Alternative Fuel cars ..... which really doesn't hurt my feelings since this cuts the throat of OPEC and their Terror Group Funding.

I have no problem with finally getting on with building Alternative Fuel Everything .... we are in dire need of it like "Yesterday".

And I do not buy into that old sad song that "All the oil and electric industry jobs would be lost ..... Bullshyte !!!!!!

These people would simply be retrained for the new technology and the jobs would still be there, just a different set of jobs.

And the part about the "Bail-Outs" of companies and my support of Government Contracts to buy solely from these Distressed Companies is simple economics 101 ..... the Government is going to buy the Same Stuff Anyway Right ??? ..... may as well buy it from a Company that will lose 20,000 Jobs than a company with a 100 Year Surplus in their Coffers ..... simple economic logic.

I think we finally adree on something. 04-jawdrop I do think a bail-out to help re-tool the factories would be a good investment but it would have to go towards that and not bonuses for the fat cats or raises for the workers though.

The quality of the cars is certainly a major issue...Detroit is not competing on quality. My comments were addressing the UAW and it's control of Detroit. They must share the blame in this mess. I know you love the unions and I even agree that at one time they were a necessary evil....but...Detroit is NOT competing. The employee benefit packages that have been jammed down their throats are a major factor in that problem. The pain needs to be spread around if they are going to go on govt. welfare. We need Detroit...We also need them to be competitive. The entire industry needs an overhaul.
