All of 2008 football recruits pointed out that the Sebo Center played an important part in their decision to play at BGSU.

I am sure the new convo center will be a key issue in the basketball and volleyball recruiting for years to come.

This is great for the university!!

Silly me, I thought it was your great Engineering program.

Careful there...your Falcon Envy's showing!

Envious? That UT actually has a college of Engineering and BG doesn't? That while BG built the Sebo, UT doubled the size of its campus? That UT's recruiting class is better? Get real.

Actually they are probably waiting to see what the new arenas look like in Toledo, before they set anything thing in stone.

It was only a matter of time before a UT fan had to veer off topic and start bringing up things like the college of engineering when the thread is about a new arena 03-wink

We can talk academics all you want though...BGSU is ranked higher in the US News & World report rankings than UT, and according to every other major rankings that you look at as well.

If BG posters would have stayed on the topic and not brought up football recruiting and the Sebo center we wouldn't be bringing up the fact that BG has no engineering program yet several football recruits site that as the reason for going there.

The problem is a lot of people don't understand that a true engineering school offers accredited degrees in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil engineering. Otherwise its a "Technology" school and good universities do not bother with trade school programs, hence why UT dropped its technology programs.

Miami is not ABET accredited in Electrical and Chemical Engineering.
http://www.eas.muohio.edu/about-seas/accreditation/

Toledo however is ABET accredited in all engineering disciplines:
http://www.eng.utoledo.edu/misc/undergrads.htm

At BGSU of course nothing is ABET accredited:

And a cow is not accreditied as a fish....

This fascination with our Engineering Technology program is...well..childish. We offer it, some of our football recruits were intrigued by it and have selected it as a major. Why exactly are you folks finding this so disturbing? It's not like we're telling any of our kids that we're moving up to the Big East or anything...

Is Barry Church still looking forward to making that big move with Fat Tommy?

BG has been raising donations as part of a big campaign and done very, very well. 04-bow

I believe CMU had a big campaign and was shooting for 50M.

Getting over 100M for a MAC school is excellent.

Steve,
And it's badly needed. It was no secret BGSU let the facilities go too long but now we're gonna make up for it. I am blown away that BGSU has raised almost $125 Million and could end up at $10 Million over that by the end of the year.

Very exciting time to be a Falcon!

ROLL ALONG...

BGSU was informed by Development Gurus that they were crazy for even thinking about a $100 million campaign.

Crazy? Yes, but we made it! 04-cheers

NIU is currently doing a $150 million campaign. I think we're around $110-115 million right now.

So true....because once Hillary takes over on January 20, you should be able to see those investments go back up $$$$$$$$. 02-13-banana 02-13-banana 02-13-banana

I hear there are still a few naming opportunities out there factman! Maybe we can have an Internet Guru room at one end of the new convocation center named for you!

I don't know much about engineering, the accreditation process, etc, but I do know my nephew graduated from the School of Technologhy three years ago and is doing VERY well financially(six figures) as a project manager for a major construction firm, and I have a friend that has two sons that have both gone thru the same and are also doing very well. The money talks in my book, especially when you are only a couple years out from graduation.

I believe it. With all the construction that has gone on in this country over the last couple of years if you can get in the right spot with a major construction firm working your way up quickly six figures is not outside the realm of possibility.

Especially in New York, Chicago or some of the other major cities where they do big $$$ vertical constrution. It takes the right personality though because you spend a lot of time out on the job site in the cold and rain hiking through the buildings. You have to be in at work by 6am and you leave by 6pm. 60 hour weeks.

A guy graduating from a technology program from a school like BG is going to usually be a better fit than an Ivy League guy. I met a Project Manager who was a history major at Utah State doing it.

This facility looks just about right. We have been talking about doing something like that at Miami for a few years, but have built several other new athletic facilities first. Anderson is a dump and has held back BG hoops for decades. I hope Miami can build something similar in the next ten years.

Funny for a Redhawk to call someone else's arena a dump. Millett Hall is easily the worst facility in the MAC. Horrible place to watch a bball game.
