RE: EMU ducks out of playing UCF
EMU FB is largely self supporting from student activity fees and road game guarantees.

The fact of life in the MAC is that a good guarantee game (some are now in the 700K range) pays a lot of bills.

As posters in other threads have indicated, MAC teams manage their budgets very well.

They don't pay out huge salaries for their head coaches.

We get a lot of coaches on their 'way up' - recently Urban Meyer and Gary Pinkel and Jim Grobe.

Weak.

A UCF fan talking trash about ducking out of games is hilarious considering the number of games that UCF has ducked out of in the last few years, including West Virginia. Did UCF duck out of it after seeing West Virginia dismantle Georgia at the Sugar Bowl?

LOL! A Cincy fan! Weren't you the one predicting Cincy would crush USM? Yet you barely beat them by 10 and looked downright mediocre? Yes, Cincy is truly BIG TIME.

As for EMU, it is what it is. We had a 1-1 offered and EMU ducked. This is NOT the same as you claiming to play Penn State or whatever ridiculous things you claim, as those are BUY games. Unless you can explain the reason EMU dropped the agreement, I'd say the beat writer is dead on.

This was already explained in my earlier post. EMU got a better deal ($$$) for a BCS opponent. That simple. Now, again, EMU did not duck anybody...there was no agreement signed....and this was decided before UCF's bowl game. Trust me...

I know you are not a regular poster here but this is fact.

And who is this BCS opponent? Is it a 1-1? EMU was looking for a 1-1 deal with a non-BCS team when this deal was verbally agreed on, and UCF was going to be the team. In otherwords, EMU was looking for a game that they wouldn't get killed in by avoiding a BUY game vs. a BCS opponent (2-1 or 1-and done). However, EMU saw that UCF had a damn good team and said "adios". The EMU agreement was VERY much real as it had been discussed at UCF booster luncheons by school officials.
03-weeping03-hissyfit I think you have your team confused with USF. The REAL directional Florida school. Hell, I don't even know if you are better than FAU to be honest. Now go back to the C-DOA board and cry like a girl because EMU is going to get a bigger payday against a team people have actually heard of. 05-stirthepot

UCF Knights 07 Wrote:Who is not comprehending here? I said VERBALLY agreed on. Last I checked, nothing is signed in verbal agreements.

Hm. Seems we have a regular contracts lawyer here.

Of course, the other notable aspect of verbal agreements is that they are non-binding. That is, either party is free to walk away from the agreement until they actually sign a contract.

I'm sure that there are nuances that a real lawyer could fill in here, but let's face it: EMU did nothing wrong other than protect the best interests of EMU.

What's that? It came at the expense of UCF's seventh home game?

Oh, the humanity!!
