RE: Demetrius Jones
Did he redshirt last year?

I don't think he played a down, so I assume he redshirted. Just odd that ND's site has him listed as a sophmore.

From the ND website:
Quote:2006 (FRESHMAN): Mobile quarterback with a good arm did not see any playing time as a freshman but was tabbed "show team player of the week" on two occasions as he provided the starting defense with a great look playing the role of the opposing team's quarterback

Their site has him listed as a true sophmore though. If he didn't play, you would think he HAD to of redshirted.

He was redshirted. Some schools list kids by their actual academic class (Purdue also does this). Makes it confusing as hell when you're looking at them figuring out how many years kids have left.

Anyway, Jones is a rs-Fr and a Sophomore in school.

Thanks UI Huskies. That makes sense. I thought I rememberd their site having Zbikowski as a senior last year on their site, and obviously he was a RS junior.

Makes sense, but you would think that in the 2006 summary they would have at least mentioned he was redshirted so as to not confuse people.

Just corresponded via email with a Chicago print media member. They are on the trail and were already trying to get confirmation from NIU.

Jones skips Michigan trip, set to transfer
September 14, 2007
http://notredame.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=714435

Quote:Demetrius Jones completed one pass as a Notre Dame quarterback. It appears the Chicago product won't get the chance at a second. On Friday multiple sources told Irish Illustrated that Jones, who started in Notre Dame's season-opener against Georgia Tech, had decided to leave the program in search of a better opportunity for playing time.

I have no clue what the article says since i'm not a Rivals subscriber. Anyone here who is a member want to let us know what it says?

We need to get some sort of chant started to welcome him! Obviously he didn't have a good experience at Notre Dame.. let's make sure that isn't the case at NIU!

Mr. Pessimistic MD always around.. why would he go to Study tables today if it wasn't true? Study tables aren't a hobby, it's something you have to do to be on the football team.

That's a great idea. Especially later in the game when we are (hopefully) blowing them out.

Need to come up with something clever.

He was definitely at study tables or a friend of a friend of a friend saw him?

The answer is in that rivals story, someone here has gotta have a subscription!

No, let's not do that. If i were Dan Nicholson something like that could easily get into my head. We're all excited but that isn't far to Nicholson.

Snoop, this is not supposed to be a knock on Dan. Just a nice gesture welcome Demetrius. I don't see any harm in this..

It is all kind of fishy to me, nothing on mainstream media about it, absolutely nothing.
