I think the debate you guys are having over whether Christianity is a religion or not is a techicallity. However, Rebelkev makes a good point.

Religion is man made. The faith that people believe may be real, and that is for them to decide. But most of the major religions of this world, as man made institutions, have not always been entirely faithful to their intended doctrines. I don't care whether we are talking about Muslims or Christians...both religions have perpetratated evil and spread hate. Both religions have their fanatics, and their extremists. But that doesn't make either group of people, as a whole, "bad people", or the religion as a whole, a bad religion. Both groups need to do a better job of controlling/distancing themselves from the fanatics among them.

Without going ino too much of the doctrine of either religion, both Islam and Christianity have at their center, the principles of compassion, understanding, and acting right to your fellow people. These are ideas everyone can agree on, if those 2 religions would do a better job of illustrating their common interests, instead of their differences.
