Bush Goes To England, Blair Goes To Hell

By David B. Livingstone, AlterNet
November 18, 2003

As George W. Bush prepares to embark on a three-day state visit to the United Kingdom, a blatant photo-op oriented around next year's elections, the gaffes have been coming thick and fast. Before Air Force One has even left the ground, Bush and his handlers have managed to enrage or alienate a substantial portion of the administration he's going to visit.

First, there's the matter of timing. Tony Blair's badly listing ship of state needs a visit from the U.S. president about as much as the Titanic needed a chance encounter with an iceberg. Plummeting in the polls, Blair is fighting for his political life, struggling to stave off the contempt of the Labour party rank and file as well as a newly emboldened Tory party

That would be President Bush. Your President I might add.
Ask some of the population in the 55-65 year old range what they think of America. You know, we saved THEIR a s s too. JB, why dont you just move to Russia or something. No, better yet, stay here! I love knowing you wake up every morning, relegated to the fact that your ideal of the way a society should be will NEVER come to pass in the US. It must eat at you! Sucks to be you ol buddy! Your hatred of everything American is getting to be a tired broken record.
Oh, and btw, have you seen your socialist ***** queen is wearing lace these days? Will she be the heroine of the Dem party in the presidential election? We know the press does not care for any of the yo-yo's who are going after the nomination. Gawd, I hope she runs. Talk about the silent majority letting their collective voice be heard!!!!!!!
Oh yeah, did you know that about 85% of all people in America believe in God? Since when, in a democracy, does 15% tell the majority what to do? Kinda makes ya wonder, does it not? Have a patriotic day ol buddy! Did you want me to change your avatar to the American Flag?

JBR, it is interesting that the polling in the United Kingdom (I bet you hate that, don't you -- rather have the United Socialist Peoples Republic of England, Scotland and Wales, right?) does not show a majority against the war in Iraq, or even against Bush. What you may or may not know is that the animus against Bush lies in (1) the Universities; (2) among the Eurocrats, who fear a determined America; (3) the rabble of old-school, rheumy eyed-pre-Thatcher socialists. These are all the fringe. Yes, thanks to the BBC and such as that, this rabble is treated as though they represented responsible opinion in Britain.

You are deluding yourself. You leftists are only breathing each others farts, hoping and begging (you don't pray, of course) that some disaster will occur to unnerve enough people. Your only hope is disaster, fear and panic. What a great way to proceed to try to get mass appeal for your ideas.

The numbers that I've heard, Wry, suggest that 68-70% of Brits were and are against the war. A whopping 85%, as polled by the Reuters, showed an unmitigated anger toward the American president, or basic disapproval. But hey, those fockers don't vote over here so I say we should nuke them! If they don't like our President, then they should die!

Seriously, I wondered about this the week Bush was in England. Why is that when Americans protest something you see a bunch of 20-somethings sporting dreadlocks and hippy outfits laying down in a road. I mean, it looks as if the typical U.S. protester is straight out of a Phish show. Later you see American cops carting them off to jail, so it's out--fo--sight--out--of--mind for the majority of us.

In England, the protesters, for the most part, were wearing ties and suits. It looked as though they came right from their office. It looked as though they were working, upstanding members of their society. Not only that, but if a reporter asked them a question, the Briton resonded with a straightforward, well-thoughout, and insightful response. Something you'd never hear from an American protester.

so, what's the deal? Why do English protesters look different than ours?

HEY, Ricky! I dare you to change my avatar, buddy roe! I double dog dare you to do it! I want to see you fall into the knee-jerk reactionism that undergirds your pathetic paint-by-the-numbers ideology.

And then you all can keep sucking each other's Dirks and praising the LAWD above that you're great Americans!

Y'all have no idea what fascists you are, I think! How sad is THAT?
