April 8th vs Reds
Allowed one run in seven, he broke a 1-1 tie with a single and we won 3-2
April 13th vs Mets
7 shutout innings and we lose 1-0 in 11 innings
April 18th vs Braves
7 shutout innings and we lose 1-0 in 12 innings
April 23rd vs Cards
7 shutout innings and we lose 1-0 in 10 innings
His ERA is 0.32 and he only has one win this season
And you thought the Braves couldnt score runs

do you guys agree with me now, when i say that he's worth that contract? you see, it's all about value. the astros can't hit, so it's imperative that they give their pitchers more money. it's not as important for the cardinals because they can win some games with their hitting.
what everyone has failed to mention on this thread is, in this same game, mulder went 10 shutout innings and only threw 101 pitches.

That is almost impossible to believe. That makes Smoltz look like he's got the best run support in the majors.

The 'stros need Lance Berkman's bat in the lineup real badly. Losing Kent and Beltran in the offseason didn't help matters. This team kind of reminds me of the Dodgers from the previous seasons when they had solid pitching but no bats.

this is better than the dodgers' solid pitching. clemens and oswalt are top 15 (clemens is top 5 and oswalt is between 10 and 15) pitchers and pettitte is top 50.

Their depth in the rotation or their bullpen is not as good as the '03 Dodgers.
I know that Dodger team didn't have any studs other than Gagne, but a 3.16 ERA? Amazing.
BTW, swoosh, I tried to tell you Pettitte was good.

i don't remember saying pettitte wasn't good. i just said that he gets hurt a lot.
the dodgers bullpen depth was better, but i disagree that their starting depth was better.
i would rather have clemens, oswalt, pettitte and backe than brown, nomo, odalis and ishiti (that's what my dad and i call him). brown and nomo were lights out. but odalis was mediocre/poor and ishiti had a terrible second half and then got knocked out by a ball to the noggin (which was incredibly funny in this household).
that dodger pen was sick, though.

Last night Clemens went 8 innings giving up 1 run and striking out 10
ERA 1.11
They beat the Giants 4-1
(And we need an Astros icon)

The guy is simply amazing. He should have about 7-8 wins easy.
