So much for that offseason spending to shore up the bullpen, the performance has been so spotty it's pathetic! :bang: 03-puke

At least Junior finally hit his first HR after 80 ABs

It's still early, but based on years past, this bullpen will probably be as bad as all the rest.

Here's the recap. Pretty gruesome for Reds fans to read.

They went into their 9th inning with a 9-3 lead...seemingly having the game closed out with Dave Weathers coming on to finish the game.

Weathers walks Yadier Molina.

Weathers walks Abraham Nunez.

David Eckstein singles to right field to load the bases.

Roger Cedeno pinch hitting for Flores strikes out looking. 1 Out.

Pujols grounds into a fielder's choice that should've been a double play to end the game, but Casey couldn't pick it at first. Molina scores. 9-4, two outs.

Reggie Sanders singles to left. Nunez scores. 9-5.

Closer Danny Graves relievers David Weathers.

Jim Edmonds hits a homerun that plates Pujols and Sanders. 9-8. Two outs.

Mark Grudzielanek rockets a grounder off of Sean Casey that ricochets into the stands....Grudzielanek to second. Two outs.

John Mabry homers to center. 10-9 Cardinals...

Molina hits a grounder to second and Casey can't pick a low throw AGAIN.

Nunez singles to second.

Eckstein flies out to right. Inning over.

Stat lines:

Dave Weathers - 0.2 IP, 2 hits, 2 BB, 4 ER, 1 K

Danny Graves - 0.1 IP, 4 hits, 3 ER, 2 HR

excuse me while I go 03-puke

absolutely disgusting performance once again by the relief pitchers, wasting a good outing by Milton. But then I guess I shouldn't have expected more. After all, Weathers has been terrible so far, and Graves has been doing the highwire act all along. Sooner or later it was going to catch up to him. I just wish it didn't come on having a 9-3 lead going into the 9th

03-puke

Terrible numbers by Weathers and Graves.....but if the fielding was better the numbers wouldn't be so bad. I blame some of this on shoddy fielding.

I was listening to this game on the way home last night. Thought maybe the red stokings had broke their slide, and then the 9th inning came. Unbelievable

No doubt, but it looked like a major upgrade over last years bullpen (which was pathetic). This year is looking to be twice as bad.

Who was it that predicted 85-77 or 86-76? Oh yeah, it was me.

I think Graves contract is over after either this year or next (thank god!), and I don't think they signed Weathers or Weber for more than 1 year, so maybe they can spend some money on some real relievers next year. If there was one thing that Jim Bowden did right it was the bullpen. The Reds always had an above average bullpen while he was here, and in the 2 years he has been gone the Reds have been plagued by late inning collapses.

they went for quantity instead of quality, which was a huge mistake.

It's no secret that Ryan Wagner is the closer of the future. Maybe they can deal Graves before he becomes a free agent and get some decent pitching.

I didn't know much about Weber before this year other than he has had some arm problems and (I think) he has some kind of weird submarine style delivery....if I remember correctly from the Angels games I saw him pitch in.

Weathers signing a contract just blew my mind. If he is in our bullpen, it can't be a good thing.

Yeah, when the Reds had him 4 or 5 years ago he was terrible, so bringing Weathers in again blew my mind. And there is no GM in baseball dumb enough to trade for Graves. Graves couldn't close in triple-A let alone any other MLB team.

Funny thing about Graves is that he is currently tied for first place (Lyons/Arizona) in the Rolaids Relief Man standings.

After the game Graves was bitching about getting booed. Heres a little tip for you Danny. STFU AND EARN YOUR 6 Mill YOU DOUCHEBAG. You deserve to get booed when you pitch like that. This Red's team is ****ing pathetic. At least junior is coming along.

I hate to admit it, but once again the almighty swoosh proved to be right. This team is god awful.

Went to lats night's game. Cards win 4-2. Valetine gives up a HR in his first pitch. My friend caught a foul ball. Better game, but I don't think I saw one throw to first base by the Reds where Casey wasn't stretching to get it.

I'm happy, though, being a Card's fan.

No way in the world should Valentine be in the Big's right now. He needs to hone his skills at a lower level.

Exactly, get rid of him and Weathers. Heck, I would rather put Kearns on the hill than have those duds throwing.
