None taken. I don't follow every team in baseball like some here do, so you'll have to excuse my ignorance from time to time. But I thought I just read a blurb about Fassero being moved to the pen (with Schmidt back in the rotation) as a part-time closer to relieve Walker.

Plus the Giants were one of the few teams reported to have some interests in Graves.

bernero was great again tonight. he now has an ERA of 4.03. that's a closer in the making. maybe he could be as good as the geniuses in our bullpen.

Bernero will not be the closer. It looks like Reitsma is going to get the job full-time.

As always? We've had a year where we were the best offensive team in the league and had the best 'pen by far. Other years, we've had lights out starting pitching. There's not one thing that you can put your finger on that keeps us from advancing every year.

they were not a postseason team. when did they have the dominating closer combined with everything else, except when they had wohlers? how else do you explain a team going to the playoffs and winning the WS once? bad luck? hardly.

If Lonnie Smith is paying attention in Game 7 in the '91 World Series we have two rings. If Wohlers doesn't hang a slider to Leyritz in '96 we have three. Poor play has hurt as at times, but you can't say we haven't had some tough breaks.

As for this year, if JS does not upgrade the bullpen the playoffs, let alone the World Series, aren't even a discussion. I almost tore my house apart tonight. I can't even discuss on this forum my hatred for Dank Olb right now.
