Going into 2008, C-USA has 6 bowls and the MAC has 3.
That is a big difference, in my opinion. I wouldn't call that slight. Plus, the MAC has no tie in to the Poinsettia Bowl. The MAC will be back at 3 bowls this year.
In 2005, C-USA had 6 bowls and the MAC had 2.
I really think YOU need to do the research.
OK. I do more research on here than anyone in the entire NCAABBS.....sure you can tell me how it is.
Does having a spot in the Papa John's Bowl (325k payout) and N.O. Bowl (325k payout) make CUSA's bowl offerings really any better?
The MAC earned about as much total money from Bowls as CUSA did in 2006.
3 years ago (before Marshall joined CUSA), CUSA had a far better bowl arrangement than the MAC with its #1 playing the MWC's #1 in the Liberty and 5 solid bowls.
Today the Liberty bowl is no better than the Motor City Bowl playing the 8th pick of the SEC. The N.O. bowl has reduced its payout to nothing. Papa John's has a crap payout. Hawaii Bowl is only on a rotational basis now.
While at the same time the MAC has added a 750k payout bowl against the Big East and with the proliferation of bowl games has played in bowls like Independence and Poinsetta.
CUSA bowls
#1 in Liberty vs. SEC #8
#2 in GMAC vs. MAC #2
Papa John's vs. Big East #6
N.O vs. SBC #1
+rotating slots in the Texas, Hawaii, and Armed Forces Bowl
MAC bowls
#1 in Motor City vs. Big10 #7
#2 in GMAC vs. CUSA #2
International vs. Big East #5
+at-large slots in bowls like the Poinsetta and Independence
You are better off picking up a at-large slot in the Poinsetta than having tie-ins with some of those CUSA bowls.
:shhh:
