Jan. 6 GMAC Mobile, Ala. ESPN 8 p.m. MAC vs. C-USA
Dec. 31 Armed Forces Fort Worth, Tex. ESPN 12:30 p.m. C-USA vs. MWC
Dec. 29 Liberty Memphis, Tenn. ESPN 4:30 p.m. C-USA vs. SEC
Dec. 28 Texas Houston NFL Net. 8 p.m. Big 12 vs. C-USA
Dec. 23 Hawaii Honolulu ESPN 8 p.m. WAC vs. C-USA
Dec. 22 Papajohns.com Birmingham, Ala. ESPN2 1 p.m. Big East vs. C-USA
Dec. 21 New Orleans New Orlenas ESPN2 8 p.m. Sun Belt No. 1 vs. C-USA

In 2006 CUSA only had 6 schools with 6-6 records or better......In 2005 they only had 6 qualify........not sure how they can fill all these bowl slots.

:shhh:
The MAC may have a shot at picking up 1 or 2 of these bowls depending on how the season shakes out.

Dec. 29 Liberty Memphis, Tenn. ESPN 4:30 p.m. C-USA vs. SEC
Dec. 22 Papajohns.com Birmingham, Ala. ESPN2 1 p.m. Big East vs. C-USA
Dec. 21 New Orleans New Orlenas ESPN2 8 p.m. Sun Belt No. 1 vs. C-USA

If CUSA makes the BCS, and the MAC has an 11 or 12 win team its possible we could fill a slot in the Liberty Bowl.

The MAC has a contractual deal with the Papa John's Bowl to backup CUSA or the Big East if they can't fill their slots.

Possibly, the MAC could be playing in New Orleans if CUSA has a really bad season.

03-idea
C-USA does not have the Fort Worth bowl this season. C-USA and Pac 10 are on a rotation for that bowl, this year it will be a Pac 10 vs. MWC match up. Next year it will be C-USA vs. MWC and so on.
You will never get the liberty bowl, that is where the C-USA champion goes.

I think C-USA 2nd place goes to Birmingham.

New Orleans Bowl could be a possibility.
Your worry about C-USA too much. The conference will be fine.

Did you read what he said first?

Do you really think C-USA will give up the Liberty Bowl if there #1 team is in a BCS game? Your crazy!

C-USA's #2 would take their place. C-USA would give up the NO or Hawaii bowl in this scenario.
By today's bowl eligible standards (6-6 season), CUSA has not had seven bowl eligible teams the last five years (2002-2006).

On the otherhand, the MAC has had seven bowl eligible teams in 2002 and 2005.

Don't see that happening next season. CUSA had the worst bowl record of all conferences. They have a long way to go.
C-USA does not need 7 bowl elgible teams for six bowl slots.

I agree, the chances of C-USA getting a BCS bowl are slim. Thus, C-USA only needs 6 bowl elgible teams for 6 bowls. That shouldn't be hard.

I was just going by the title of the thread.

IMHO, the MAC has even farther to go...

C-USA will have 6 guaranteed bowl games this year.

Dec. 29 Liberty Bowl Memphis, Tenn. ESPN 4:30 p.m. C-USA (Champ) vs. SEC (at-large)
Jan. 6 GMAC Mobile, Ala. ESPN 8 p.m. C-USA (#2) v. MAC (at-large)
Dec. 28 Texas Houston NFL Net. 8 p.m. Big 12 vs. C-USA
Dec. 23 Hawaii Honolulu ESPN 8 p.m. WAC vs. C-USA
Dec. 22 Papajohns.com Birmingham, Ala. ESPN2 1 p.m. Big East vs. C-USA
Dec. 21 New Orleans New Orlenas ESPN2 8 p.m. Sun Belt (Champ) vs. C-USA

these games give C-USA good exposure...throw in our TV contracts with ESPN, CSTV...and our local agreements with CSS and Time Warner TV, and you have a pretty lucrative set-up for our conference.

Go Tigers!!!

I'm sure they do, but it has to be embarassing when one of your best teams loses to a Sun Belt school in a bowl game. I don't think it helps CUSA much when they only won one bowl game out of five last season.

Every 1-A football conference has contracts with ESPN (except MWC).

No one even has CSTV. I can honestly say i don't know anyone who has that channel here.

Boise State did exactly this as they played in the 2004 Liberty Bowl spot that was open when Utah accepted a bid to the Fiesta Bowl.

Probably not, hypothetically speaking I was.
Umm, Boise St filled in for the MWC team not the C-USA team.

C-USA worked so hard for this bowl. They are not going to let any other team play in it.

The MAC still losses to 1-AA teams. Please, the MAC has just as far to go.

Which is worst, losing to Temple or losing to a bowl team in Troy St?
Jack Burns Wrote:The MAC still losses to 1-AA teams. Please, the MAC has just as far to go.

So do Big Ten (Indiana lost to SIU) and Big 12 schools (Colorado). Ball State lost to one of the top 1-AA teams, many of which beat 1-A programs all the time.

Jack Burns Wrote:Which is worst, losing to Temple or losing to a bowl team in Troy St?

Having a losing record vs. Sun Belt teams is worse for a conference that you all consider to be so good because of your undeserving six bowls.
The MAC doesn't lose to 1-AA schools very often anymore.

The bottom of this conference has really stepped it up.
Yeah, I guess I should take a conference that can't even schedule correctly seriously.

C-USA had one bad year against the Sun Belt. How many years have the MAC lost to 1-AA teams? The MAC had a losing record against the Sun Belt in 2004.

In the same breath you say there is no shame in losing to 1-AA schools because they beat 1-A programs all the time but condemn the Sun Belt. The Sun Belt has also beaten some decent 1-A teams. I really fail to see your point.

Also, Ball St lost to NDSU. So, the bottom of the MAC is still losing to 1-AA teams.
Jack Burns Wrote:Also, Ball St lost to NDSU

Which was a top 1-AA team.

Enjoy watching more MAC players go into the 2007 NFL Draft than CUSA.
