"What would help us more then anythin is an overall conference effort to upgrade basketball facilities like we are doing with football; as well as paying more money to keep our better coaches".

There is an accurate statement. I love the MAC...I know its current limits but can see a great future for the conference.

Decisions like these are about the whole athletic program as a whole, trying to worry about getting a girls soccer team to Purdue on a Tuesday, field hockey to Minnesota on a Thursday, and all the other sports. The Big 10 was already apprehensive about allowing Penn State in for these same reasons, having all these midwest school trying to get their teams to the middle of PA with a long van/bus ride or via their antiquated airport. Kent State and the rest of the MAC schools are just suited for where they are right now.

It’s somewhat laughable right now, but I still see Buffalo as having the best chance to get an invite to the Big East someday. Forget athletics for a minute,,,,they are in a major market and the University is the flagship of New York State. The size, academics and research going on there are comparable with other Big East schools. As for transportation, there is a very nice major International airport about 5 miles from campus that is served by every major low cost carrier (even closer if you’re talking about the South campus). The athletic programs are getting better and more competitive every year and new facilities are in the works to attract better recruits (i.e. indoor field house for football). Nothing against Kent State,,,,I just don't see it.

Sadly, mods are often forced to read threads they wish they hadn't. Poor Karl (and I happen to agree with him, but what the hell...carry on if you must)

RE:
C-DOA has gone from a near BCS conference to essentially another MAC, same for the Western Athletic

Have to disagree with you there. The WAC has put back to back conference title winners in BCS bowls, plus their #2 (Boise) is in the top 25. They are ahead of the MAC & CUSA in terms of football.
