axeme Wrote:We can agree then that the "Antonio Gates" poster who was over there a week or two ago and may still be there is the rough equivalent of you and mwilly et.al. Fair enough.

I was just about to bring him up but since you did I guess I will run from there. Since it is already apparently agreed that a certain section of each schools population is what you would call obsessed with the other school let me take this one step further. We also have msopher and some fool named ToledoRockets who likes to post over there as well as some condentation of RedSteve. They post very similar stuff over at zipsnation as what you guys complain about us posting over here. Are they obsessed? No. Are they trying to get under our skin? Yes. It is a common practice in sports to try and get under the skin of your opponent and it isn't just done by the players. It is also a fan initiated thing. I generally try and ignore it on zipsnation but I actively participate in trying to get under you guys skin. Why? Because you ARE our rivals. It makes you, over other schools in the MAC an "easy" target for us. The fact that this thread is now pushing 40 posts, well over half of those by Kent fans is evidence enough to me that in one way or another we are getting under your skin. Heck, the fact that this thread even exists is evidence enough of it for me.

1) Antonio Gates LIVES over at the Zipsnation board, he wasn't just there "a couple weeks ago." Unlike me, he starts threads. They are generally are along the lines of "WERE STILL CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and a couple sentences of ineloquent trash talk. He's a fine representative of you guys. 04-rock He's hardly the only Kent guy there, although he is by far the most frequent Kent poster.

2) I haven't, and won't, be starting any threads here. I have, and will, step in on your talking-amongst-yourselves wank threads about Akron fans. And as I do, you can pat yourself on the back about Akron being "obsessed." If I don't, you can pat yourselves on the back for chasing the Akron fans away with your incisive, unrefutable arguments. Either way, you win!

As I don't post on your board and you have so far failed to bring anything clever or witty to this board or even informational, I see no point in continuing. You guys are too angry! Lighten up--you'll feel better.
Good luck with the rivalry thing. Akron was not a rival when I was in school and it really doesn't make any difference to me yet. Others here disagree, for sure.
As I have stated before, one of my closest friends is an UA prof (KSU grad, naturally, but couldn't get fulltime prof slot at Kent, so...hey, a man's gotta eat! ;-) ) and we talk sports sometimes, but there is no trash talk and the like. Guess it's for the undergrads and the locals, of which I am neither.
I find it tedious and will just put those zip fans who come over here for that on ignore so I waste less of my time trying to teach the pig to sing. Ignore poster: it's a great function!

Quote:Sure it would have been nice to finish 8-0, but it was the result of the good teams (Kent would NOT be included in this group) beating up on each other. Hitting on all cylindars means having the top-ranked football recruting class for the last two years. Hitting on all cylindars means competing against programs like Michigan and Ohio State for players (and winning in at least one example). Hitting on all cylindars means your coaching staff getting national recognition. We are beginning to lose them as they get recruited away by other conferences.

This thread was drivel on both sides, but "hitting on all cylinders?" lmfao

Ah, c'mon...you got it all wrong.. I don't mind smack, but Zip dude owns the boat. Not very ghetto.
More country tha ghetto. If you showed up on my uncle's boat with an Iowa State shirt instead of "true black and gold" (<--Iowa), not only would you be pushed off, he'd expect you to give him back his lifejacket first!
...though I plan showing up this summer in blue and gold to see if he's colorblind! I'm glad I can swim! ;-)

Hey P2, I've got the same deal with my Iowa in-laws, except some of them are Iowa diehards and a few are Iowa State. Got to watch your step out there for more than the cow pies. ;-)

Wow, you got that right! So many stories like that, not to mention the just plain crazy ones. Then comes the "personal" rivalries: my sis bought my cousin an Iowa sweatshirt for his son's baby shower, and the next year he got her a Cyclone hoodie dog shirt for her mutt. She told him that she uses the doggie shirt to clean out her grill, and he said that it was okay, and thanked her for the Iowa shirt because it made a great diaper.

I told her that if I see that ISU rag anywhere NEAR come next fall, I will burn it.

By the way, do you know if we play ISU home, or away? If it's away, I better reserve a section for the family in advance! They'll all be blue and gold for one day, anyways, even the alumni:
blood is thicker than water! :towel:

My wife's sister is a big Hawkeye fan all her life, and she married a Cyclone fan whose family is all ISU fans as well. Craziness, especially since they play in both football and basketball every year.
I do get some nice IU gear about every year or so!

Hey, axe, pass this on to your wife, she'll appreciate:

Why are all the ISU campus dumpsters made out of glass?

So the Cyclone cheerleaders can go window shopping.

I know. bad.
