Wind didn't affect Roethlisberger much. But then...i suppose that's one reason he just landed a 9 million dollar signing bonus.

From field level...i swear some of Gochnaur's (sp?) passes ended up going backwards. No arm whatsoever.

Watts could have been healthy, wouldn't have mattered. just like it won't matter this year... Hodge and Hunter will have Marshall receivers on lockdown.

Get used to it. The whoppin's will be a lot more frequent in CUSA.
I doubt it.
Marshall's division has gone from Akron, Kent, Ohio, Miami, Buffalo, and UCF to now being UCF, Memphis, Southern Miss, ECU, UAB. Anyone of the programs in Marshall's division has the potential to win the CUSA Championship.

The MAC East division is SOFT to say the least. Kayo was already whinning about the CUSA East being too strong. Marshall's recruiting is not and will not go up; but the competition level will.

Stan Hill was clearly on mind-altering drugs when he watched this game. That was one of the most lop-sided wins I've ever seen. Hopefully Marshall can return the favor this year.

From what I understand, Marshall has already received a committment from a stud quarterback from Kentucky. Possibly of the Ben Roethlisberger mold???

Hasn't Marshall been recruiting big-time quarterbacks for quite a while now? Pennington, Leftwhich, Hill (when he's not hurt he is good, but he probably hasn't lived up to his potential), and there is someone newer they are high on.

I expect Marshall to start getting some better recruits from the south now that they are part of a more "southern" league.

Bernard Morris is the Stud QB on the bench. He will probably be third string this year due to his youth. He has the arm strength and height of Byron but he is very mobile. Marshall insiders are already touting him as the next great QB from Marshall.

Gochneaur doesn't have the arm strength needed to be a Marshall quarterback - Morris does.

Marshall insiders were touting Graham Gochneaur, and now he's been exiled to Siberia. Not exactly credible, these guys... 03-lol

Marshall gets verbal from Kentucky QB

By Gary Fauber, Assistant Sports Editor

Marshall already has a promising young quarterback named Bernard. Now the Thundering Herd have a Barnard with a bright future of his own.

Zach Barnard, a senior at Owensboro (Ky.) Catholic High School, gave a verbal committment to Marshall last week. He is the Herd's first verbal toward the 2005 recruiting class.

No other school had made an offer to the 6-foot-5, 210-pound Barnard, but he said Nebraska and Mississippi State should be calling soon. Cincinnati and Ball State also showed interest.

It was Marshall's quarterback tradition that led Barnard to commit rather than waiting.

"With (Chad) Pennington and (Byron) Leftwich (in the NFL), and Stan Hill should do pretty well (this fall)," he said. "And at first they showed more interest in me than any other college.

"(Waiting) is something to think about, but Marshall was a really good fit for me. It just seemed like that's where I would have ended up going, anyway, at the very end. So I decided to try to take some pressure off."

"To us, Marshall is a high-profile school," said John Edge, Barnard's coach at Owensboro Catholic. "Year in and year out they get people in the NFL. Of course, that's not what we're thinking about right now. But they are on TV five or six ballgames a year, then they go to a bowl game. That's what you want."

As a junior, Barnard threw for 3,110 yards and 33 touchdowns while completing 64 percent of his passes for the Aces. He runs a 4.7 40, and carried a 3.6 grade point average in the classroom.

Actually, now that he's verballed elsewhere, D'Antonio is more likely to offer. UC's new recruiting model appears to be to wait to see where kids verbal so they can have a better idea how good they are. I guess it beats thinking.

Kayo's whine had nothing to do with MU not being able to beat the C-USA East competition.

How does he differ from all of the back-ups that rode the pine for the Hurd? They were all highly-touted and under-recruited, too.
