Can't wait to see if we get to hear the audited numbers. I was at the EMU-NIU game and there is no way that there were more than 1,500 people there. There was no way those turnstyles could have spun over 4,000 times. I suspect the same may be true at BSU and one or two others. This attendance requirement, if enforced, will be very interesting to follow and could spell trouble for the MAC.
Well, I too was at the EMU-NIU game. I have been at every game at Rynearson for the past several years. I am always quite amazed at how people can come up with such an accurate count based on sitting there in the stands.
The attendance was a lot closer to 4k than 1500. (Not that either number is worth bragging about), so, just get off it. I am tired of the EMU attendance bashing. We were innovative this year and found a way to stick the stupid attendance requirement right up the a$$ of the NCAA.

OK, I think I know what happened. Our WMU game attendance was audited and found to be 21,383. The MAC website either didn't get the heads-up or didn't make the correction yet. Also, Our attendance for SouthEast Missouri State was audited and found to be over 22,000 (up from a grossly erroneous 14,946). CMU was prepared to submit this audit to the NCAA, if we had come up short. In other words, we actually had well over the minimum. :)

I think the Zips marketing people did okay. They certainly tried.
They were put in a bad spot when the team got drilled early by Penn St. and Virginia, and lost to MTSU. People probably thought, Same Ol' Zips.
They turned their attendance around thanks to the Marshall game being on TV and free.
Hopefully the seeds of hope have been planted for better attendance next year. Their local profile has to be improved.

I'm not trying to specifically rail on EMU's attendance, but there's no way there were 4K in that stadium. I know, I know - TV doesn't show you everything, but they appeared to get the whole stadium by the end of the first half and there is just no way there was 4K there.
Not that it would make EMU unique to inflate attendance.

Let's put it this way: The preceeding week I attended EMU's game at Kent and the announced attendance was 5K. EMU's crowd for the NIU game was nearly identical. If Kent had 5K, EMU had at least 4K. :D

I never said that it would make EMU unique as an attendance-inflator. :D
