We'll see who has more success in the next 6 years.
Quite a mouth you have.
I personally disagree that CFU sucks.
I have seen them in their "glory days".
Who will have more success in 6 years? Who knows? As soon as you get rid of O'Leary you'll be well on your way.
Get rid of O'Leary?
I know last year sucked, but come on man.......give the guy a chance.
He didn't win coach of the year for nothing. He inherited a team full of whiners, problems, and all around YOUTH. We had no position except safety full of experience, and Atari Bigby got HURT!!!
O'Leary wanted to drive home his system, even if that meant extreme growing pains. Our past recruiting class was very good and I expect our future ones to be good. The man knows how to win, knows how to develop talent, and has the resources to win in CUSA at UCF.
If 3 years from now UCF is still an "average" team then I'll cast my vote for him to go as well. But I REALLY doubt it will come to that.
If nothing else, season ticket sales have gone up by 18% since Kruczek left, INCLUDING the 0-11 season. Most reasonable UCF fans and football fans can see past the 0-11 season and realize what is really goign on here.
I wish the MAC the best. We are both fighting the BCS.

Perception IS Reality!
MAC plays very good Football...but the PERCEPTION is...that its a very small (in stature) conference...many games played infront of LESS then 10,000 fans, etc....almost on a HS level.
Of course there might of been just as many games played infront of crowds of 25,000....but to MOST, even that is still considered "small".
The MAC puts out a very good product...but until almost ALL teams support it, the MAC will only be as strong as the weakest link.

Looking at the results, I think the poll answers have been skewed. Fess up, which of you voted for "harsh reality?" If kiddies from other conferences come over just to screw with the results, polls are pointless.

I agree with this.
People who ought to know better at this point look at me like I'm crazy when I say I'm going to Madison to watch Bowling Green open at Wisconsin.
Typical answer:
"Why would you go to the wisconsin game? You are going to lose."
It's just going to take time.
I think history shows we don't have to absolutely dominate our OOC schedules. Just get enough key wins where people continue to take notice and realize we can win these games -- and keep getting these games on TV.
It just takes time.

The MAC needs 2-3 weekends similar to the one 2 years ago when UT beat Pitt, NIU beat Maryland, Marshall beat KSU, and Miami beat someone (Iowa St.) The exposure was awesome.
Our perception is getting better on a national level. Talking with people who root for Big East and ACC teams down here in W.V. they think the MAC Conference is pretty good in football.

Guys, be realistic......the BCS boyz have a 10 to 1 economic advantage over non-BCS programs......you simply can't compete day in and day out with the built-in disadvantage which affects exposure, recruiting, facilities, coaching salaries, you name it. I get sick and tired of that same old crap from the anti-MAC naysayers that the MAC is "content to live in the shadow of the B10". Say what? Take a little looksie at Ohio States' athletic department budget, fellows. It's a frickn' miracle that MAC teams do whip up on the BCS boyz as much as they do.
Check out what a B10 coach makes vs. a MAC coach. At Miami, we're proud of our current $13MM stadium renovation, and yes, it's very nice. At Wisconsin, they are finishing up a $100 MM renovation, and they aren't even adding seats (except for indoor luxury loges). Kind of back to my 10 to 1 argument.
So, am I say "throw in the towel". H#ll no, but I think we should be relishing in all the accomplishments recently made in the MAC (renovated facilities, top 25 finishes in football, ESPN exposure, Elite 8 in b-ball, etc.), and not spend so much time on the negative, and the factors that are pretty much beyond the control of our athletic departments.

eCK, I believe I posted something about this a number of years ago on another forum, but here's further evidence of what we're (MAC schools) up against:
When Toledo went down to Columbus to play the Suckeyes, the Rockets were coming off a season that saw them reach a milestone fundraising campaign. At halftime of the Homecoming game the previous year, the UT administration proudly announced that the "UT 40" campaign to raise $40 million dollars had reached its goal, and then some, getting $53MM in pledges and contributions. That opening day in Columbus, Alumni Band Day, OSU president Gee announced OSUs newest fundraising campaign. The goal? $1 BILLION. 10-1? IF WE'RE LUCKY.

While I think that attendance is a stupid barometer of how good a program is or a conference is, we need to fill our stadiums to be considered legitimate. When some of us can't outdraw local high schools and DIII schools there is no way you can be taken seriously.
