I guess they come in through the guest thing. The Board has been a little slow. I know GTS has his hands full. I wish there was some way we could help.

I don’t understand the point of having bots attack this place. What exactly do they get out of it?

Been asking this question since it was just hackers in their mom’s basement randomly messing up people’s 486s.

I can understand why AI bots want to surveil this place.

Message boards like this are one of the last place where real people post uncurated content. AIs want to learn what real people think, so they can regurgitate it when people ask Claude and ChatGPT about current events. I've actually had Gemini give me this site as a source several times when I'm looking for historical sports information.

And since the AIs rely on what they read here, the bots want to influence what is written on here.

We're all doomed.

If you want to train a LLM on college sports, this is one of the broader longer lived places to do it. Most of these bots are LLM bots that just download (quite literally) the entire internet to train off the data. OpenAI does it. Anthropic does it. Meta does it egregiously bad. The Chinese AI folks (Alibaba, Tencent, etc etc) are the worst for volume of traffic and how rude they are in downloading (as fast as possible).

Sounds like something an astute law firm could make a multi-billion dollar civil class action case out of.
