Which is why I don’t want non-FB members in the conference.

Game was close when they were in plus High Point is probably the best mid major team this year and yes I don’t consider the Zags a mid major. We were missing a lot of good shots too.

Yes, it is an overreaction. But also yes, they missed wide open shots, they were far less competitive when Carter was not in, they struggled on offense, thye struggled on defense, they don’t appear to be very athletic. My first impression was not a good one. But I certainly believe in McKay and his ability to coach up players.

It’s going to take a few games for everyone to get the pack line defense. Now do I think we win the conference this year? No, but we’re not going to be at the bottom.

I don’t want non basketball members either.

I don’t want non-football members either, but that’s weak. I want the best teams possible to compete against. If a CUSA team pours millions into basketball to win, I’d expect the rest of us to try and do the same to keep up, or find another way to keep up. Competition is good. But I di agree no partial members as much as possible.

This final was not surprising to any Liberty fan. We brought back zero starters and one of our key portal guys, Sean Register Jr, is already out for the year with an injury. Two of our best players were hurt in the second half with cramps and High Point when on a run with them out. There is no way a team as young as ours we beating High Point. I am happy we at least stayed in it for a half.

Regarding High Point - I would LOVE to have them in our conference as a non-football school. However, it would never happen unless we paid them almost like a football school.

They would help raise our Basketball competition. But there really is no advantage for them to join us. They are currently a shoe win for their current conference almost every year. So moving to CUSA, unless we give them a ton of cash, isn't worth it.

Quote:NMSU will be shorthanded traveling to Gonzaga on Saturday. Gabe Warren, who'd been the Aggies' top player in preseason, tore his ACL in Tuesday's opener and will miss the remainder of the season, coach Jason Hooten tells me. Guard KK Robinson, who's coming off double ACL tears, is still on a minutes restriction. Forward Stephon Payne, who tried to jump into the Waco 5-in-5 lawsuit with Chauncey Wiggins, remains ineligible.

Man, that sucks for you guys.

Praying for a full recovery for Gabe and a speedy comeback for KK.

JAX loses 83-80 in Double OT.

S. Alabama did not win the game--JAX lost it (Had ten point lead with 2m left).

But its just November--they'll learn.

And this is on top of us being down two other players and one who hasn’t received eligibility for his first year. At least according to our coach. Don’t be surprised to see some early struggles from us especially with the likes of Gonzaga, SDSU and UNM on the schedule.

100% agree with both comments.

Even after the 2nd half collapse, we were still in position to win it as time ran out, but blew it due to some poor decisions.

I don't know how good USA is in hoops this season (last season they were kind of bad, tbh) but there were a lot of good things for Gamecock fans to take away from this game.

Ray's teams have always started slow and come together as the season progresses. It's far too early to tell, of course, but through two games (only one against a D-I) it certainly looks like we're starting out in decent shape.

If Ray works his usual magic, by the time the conference schedule starts, we may actually be pretty good.

Contenders? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But definitely not an embarrassment. After losing literally the entire team to the Portal, I'll take that as a win.
