Brazil is gone.

No point in trying to save it.

Prob b/c many of us don't want just a right wing cheering section for a forum. I know how righties feel. I would like to hear the other side, to know where they're coming from.

If they say something that makes sense, I will consider it (rarely). If it doesn't (usually), it reinforces my own beliefs and gives me stronger arguments. The fun is in the back and forth. I love hearing their arguments as to why they support a certain person or position. Many times it's hilarious.

What the hell is the point of just us righties sitting around the campfire patting each other on the back?

if the Senate would pass The SAVE Act, reasonable discourse would follow ... it's last chance chuckie in that capacity of this constitutional republic .... kinda like the current 'mission' you've engaged ... 04-cheers

Good point. And my 'mission' has once again (third time total) been thwarted not by weather, but by the potential of bad weather. I am now in Holbrook AZ, a small town not far from the Petrified Forest NP, and the Painted Desert.

Saw those two today. I'll report on them when I have more time. Which may be soon, since I now have paid for 3 nights here to sit and wait out the big storm supposedly coming through starting tomorrow afternoon, and moving slowly.

My next stop is the Grand Canyon, and I can't risk pulling my trailer up that way with a big storm potentially dropping in. Literally too dangerous with my rig. Not the most stable setup with wet roads, high winds and low visibility, and climbing to 7000 feet.

Apparently I’m pretty much alone in that I come here for civil discourse and current information, and not to spend all my time arguing with idiots. To each his own.

I've always supported that position, looking for something from them that adds value to the discourse here. So far I haven't found it. Every time some new person shows up claiming to be fair and impartial, reasonable even, I've spotted them immediately and said so. The lefties here have recruited new losers to show up with their disinformation campaign in hand. They don't even try to hide it anymore.

I guarantee they have most of us on ignore and they don't see many of the responses their threads generate.

As long as both sides are repped here, you're never going to have "civil discourse," lol. What you mean is all of us righties talking with no interference.

I don't care for "arguing with idiots," as you put it, but I don't consider them idiots, as much as I would hope they would not feel that way about me.

Without varying viewpoints, I think that would be boring as hell. The trick is to do it without getting personal. But I don't see how you can come here to find political news, without understanding that people with different, frequently opposite views, are going to show up as well.

I realize you have them on ignore, but the convo that results from opposition is always going to pop up on your screen a lot, anyway.

So, it's have a boring boys club where we talk about how great Trump is, lol, or jump in the pool and splash around a bit with the "idiots." 03-lmfao

I don’t associate with these idiots in real life why would I want to here? This is even less real than real life. I despise them, they will never be invited for Sunday dinner.

I mean, Trump's broader strategy in Latin America is interesting and could benefit the US in the long run. A more stable region free from authoritarian communist regimes could help address several issues:

- Fewer people would feel compelled to flee their countries, helping reduce illegal immigration;

- Greater regional cooperation could help disrupt drug trafficking networks and address the opioid crisis;

- A more stable and economically developed region could foster a new consumer base for american products.

What bothers me the most, though, is everything surrounding the Brazilian election and the integrity of the process. You don't see a defeated presidential candidate in exile to the US for no reason.

I'll give you some facts: In an unprecedented decision, a Supreme Court justice extended voting by two hours even though the polling stations had already shut down. Then, just seven minutes after the final results were announced, another Supreme Court justice reportedly ordered the seizure of the defeated candidate's passports.

And by the way, did you guys know that Brazil uses a fully electronic voting system, without a voter-verifiable paper trail?

The whole situation is just exhausting.

You might see that same candidate fleeing the country when facing severe money laundering charges. As is the case.

You know, just like Amy Actons father fleeing Ohio rather than face child rape charges on his daughter.

But the first impulse seems to be to *automatically* shovel the case of he lost, he fled. And funnily the fact of 5he pre-existing charges is simply not bothered with to the sole exclusion of solely blaming the act as the narrative of a dude who lost fleeing *solely* because of persecution.

RE: Voters in Brazil re-elect Lula, send far right down to defeat
Could be BS, but sources are claiming only a small percentage of Lula's win margin cast votes after the polls closed.

Quote:Only about 34,330 votes were registered on Brazil’s electronic voting machines after the original 17:00 closing time on Sunday 25 October 2026, according to the machine logs and TSE records. That is about 0.03% of the ballots and about 0.8% of Lula’s margin of 4,430,191 votes over Flávio Bolsonaro in the official results of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

Donald Trump told reporters in Iowa that the vote “looked like another rigged election, frankly” and that “With the extension given, it was very strange”, and no evidence was cited for either remark. Flávio Bolsonaro made the same extension the ground for his annulment call on election night, so the count shows how small it was in votes.

He hasn't been convicted of any crime. While there are ongoing investigations involving him, being under investigation doesn't make someone a convicted criminal. There's a difference between allegations and proven guilt.

And we're supposed to take the word of an authoritarian court known for being not only biased but also politically persecutory. The regime uses lawfare against anyone who opposes it, and we have less and less room for protest here. Don't just take my word for it. Look at CNN's reporting.

Glenn Greenwald has been vocal in his criticism of these issues. The presidential candidate isn't the only one leaving the country:

RE: Voters in Brazil re-elect Lula, send far right down to defeat
Why make the unprecedented decision to keep the polls open at the last minute, casting doubt on the entire election, for such a small number of votes? Seems flat out retarded to believe that. That may have been the number cast at polls, but how many were processed by the voting machines in those extra hours?

Whats incredible about Lula's vote tally is that he picked up 100% of the additional 5million votes cast in this election than he did round one.

100%

All of them
