A relatively new virus called "the troll" has been released onto a small political bulletin board. Its content has now expanded to almost 25% of the total content on the first page. Its content is almost always anti-Trump with a smattering of anti-conservatism thrown in and is almost exclusively opinion or misinformation presented as breaking news.

It has been widely accepted by the residents of the board that most of the content being presented by the troll, shown here , has been previously and roundly debunked yet its still allowed to continue posting lies. The usually only contributes to its own threads. Users have been cited as stating that the even goes so far as to respond to itself so that its threads remain on the first page.

It uses less than reliable sources for its "information" from the likes of NPR, NYT, WashPo and CNN with an occasional story from ABC and NBC, all of which are known to be sources of misinformation.

Attempts to reach local authorities with questions about the have been largely unsuccessful.

I'll weigh in, TB4E. I feel Crimson posts too many threads (and I seem to recall Stink has noted this too). Now, and to be fair to C-Phantom, many of the threads he starts offer interesting topics. In fact, a few of them have been very fascinating and I learned from them. So that's a positive. But he could probably stand to reduce the numbers. And some of the "sources" he quotes ... I'm skepitcal.

Of course, Gitanole should consider dialing back the sheer number of threads too. And some of the sources he uses ... I don't trust either.

Both Crimson and Git are biased (in Crimson's case, toward the conservative). So the two posters are similar in that respect. I take it they start threads, in part, to reinforce their respective socio-political views and, in a way, to indirectly prove their opponents wrong (though neither is going to be successful in that effort)

I simply pick and choose which threads to read from both Gitanole and C-Phantom.

Others have chimed in but I will double down at the irony here with CrimsonPhantom not also getting a call out from OP? Also, I find it WORSE that Crimson barely posts in his own threads because it gives even more credence that its just a propaganda pump n dump firehose because he barely defends his own spam. This among many other reasons why I have stopped posting here and only ghost to see the opinions of others.

If they (Tom, gitanole, Crimson) aren't on someone's payroll then I worry about their mental health to spend all this time generating or regurgitating hate content (from both sides of the aisle). But to each their own how they spend their finite time on this earth.
