They still owes the federal government around 20 billion to the federal government for unemployment benefits borrowed during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the only state that has failed to repay its federal unemployment loan, forcing ongoing employer payroll tax increases.
Like I said blue states and blue cities need the most help, why is that? And what do they all have in common.
You sure about that?
“welfare rate urban vs rural”…
Key Comparisons
Poverty Rates:
• Rural (nonmetro) poverty rates typically hover around 13% to 15.4% (e.g., ~13.6% to 15% depending on the specific year and U.S. Census/USDA data).
• Urban (metro) poverty rates typically sit lower, around 10.7% to 11.9%.
SNAP / Food Stamp Participation:
• Rural households are statistically more likely to participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Roughly 14.4% of rural households receive SNAP benefits compared to 11.3% of urban families.
Employment and the Working Poor:
• A substantial share of the poor in both areas are employed (about 45% of prime-age poor householders worked at least part of the year). However, working rural residents face a higher poverty rate (around 9.8%) compared to working urban residents (around 6.8%) due to lower average wages and fewer local job options.
Income Levels:
• Median household incomes are lower in rural counties ($47,020 to $52,386) compared to urban counties ($54,296 to $59,970).
Do you have any idea how many rural areas are in blue counties? Blue counties have blue cities wouldn't you say?
How many times are you going to move the goal posts? All I am saying it welfare is an issue in both urban and rural settings. Which tend to lean blue and red respectively. The data shows it slightly more of a problem in rural areas due to fewer available options and you still trying to argue it’s “blue blue blue!”
I'm the one moving the goal posts, All I have said, blue states and blue cities need the most help. Then you bring up “welfare rate urban vs rural” I would say, you're the one trying to move the goal post. Who's running the show in these blue rural counties with blue cities?

... than live in a rural area and have no irritable bowel syndrome troubles.
I've had a taste of 'em all ... peace o' mind and wheels can accomplish much more than being in the war zone 24/7/365.25 ... there's a reason they call the 'burg, "the Hub City"
it's much easier to avoid the dipshites than engage, nuts says...
IBS is a rural myth embraced by the gut rot of the sin cities ... we don't miss either of yaz ...
On the Hattiesburg theme ...
... I did not know that the city offered a zoo and that former SNL standout Fred Armisen was born in the city.
lol ... it's a 'zoo' alright ... having come from the StL zoo and Busch Gardens, it's quite the smaller 'animal' ... it now has a waterpark that the li'l ones can enjoy...
and to Armisen ... he was a mere pup when he moved ... we don't claim him...
