The Sun Belt adopted new exit fees this week, increasing the exit amount from $5 million to a range of $8-18 million that is determined through the notification date of departure, sources tell @YahooSports.
A 27-month or more notice is an $8M fee and it escalates from there.
The NEW CUSA Exit by-laws could wind up being similar to those^
(Very few schools will give that much (27 months) notice.
BIG Question is when would they take effect?
Everyone here may Assume immediately--but that is not necessarily the case--Story does not say.
That is something that is usually negotiated by League Presidents. What we know is that 10 schools were in favor of the change, because it takes 10 to change bylaws. So that means that someone outside the Georgia Schools in the SBC East voted to pass this.
Wait period also explains why JMU Left. They aint sneezing at $3 Million extra when they are paying $23 million to get into the AAC. They don't want to wait 27 months only to find out Memphis and USF have left.

Maybe they leave . . . . and maybe they don’t. I’ve been reading for years now about how the ACC was on the verge of being picked apart, and thus triggering a whole new wave of realignment.
uh, still waiting.
As to Memphis and USF leaving, where they gonna go? Memphis already turned the PAC down because the move made no financial sense. Due to ever increasing Exit Fees, more and more these conference to conference leaps aren’t making sense.
Unless something “catastrophic “ comes down the pike, I don’t see either of those school moving. The exit fees alone make it an unrealistic prospect.

Wouldn't surprise me. They left early when they left the CAA.
