I'm from a middle class Deep South background but living in NC now, so lacrosse always felt like a very regional mid-atlantic sport to me. I'm not sure I saw it then or now as a class thing, but I get that viewpoint.

As a college sport lacrosse has been a mid-Atlantic mania, for sure.
It’s gradually catching on.

In pre-colonial days the game was played over a wide area.

I don't know about hispanics but SMU definitely has a lot more rich kids.

It is old data but the median family income of a student from Southern Methodist is $198,900, and 23% come from the top 1 percent.

Virginia Tech is $142,800, and 2.8% come from the top 1 percent.

It depends how SMU classifies hispanics. There are the international students mainly from Guatemala and Panama that are preppy and there are the Mexican-American students that are not so preppy.

I have no doubt SMU adding men's lacrosse will be a success. Denver and Utah now have company out west
