ACC teams that should end their season in mid-November
Going forward, 1/3 of the ACC should start their season on week 0 (or the new week 1) so that it ends in mid-November, these would include the traditional hoops or northern schools; Duke, Wake, SU, BC, NCSU, UNC, UConn.

Why does this work? The fans from the cold weather teams don't want to freeze their butts off in late November. Football season just about wraps up when basketball season begins, thusly selling more tickets and getting more views without dividing fans attention.

The football cultured schools including those with end season OOC rivalry games start in week 1 (or the new week 2) and end on the usual week of November. It's a win-win for everybody.

You’re right, weird that I did not see another game on sports.yahoo after 11/21.

Syracuse plays in a dome so the cold weather isn’t much of a factor. Is it colder in North Carolina than in Virginia or Kentucky? I don’t see the weather as much of a factor here but if they wanted to end their regular season early & just use a bye week at the end of the season that would be fine. I don’t see anyone eliminating games though. UConn isn’t in the ACC so they can do whatever they want.

I’ve included SU because they are a serious hoops school, same with UConn…if they were to become ACC members.

True, that.

Whether he is masquerading as a Uconn fan or not has not been established. One thing that I do know is that he usually presents decent topics for discussion here and not flaming the board. He conducts himself like a gentleman, even when provoked.

True, that.

Well, I dissent from one detail. I find the topics not so much ‘decent’ as ‘repetitious to the point of suicide-inducing’—but I can manage if allowed attempts at humor as a coping mechanism. If all roads are going to continue to lead to Storrs, I prefer levity to hanging myself on a basketball hoop.

But my own aim is not to drive anyone away. I agree that this bit of folklore has not been factually established, that it takes all kinds to make a world, and that Garrettabc does often, in his way, show more patience than he usually gets shown.

Maybe we pin a UCONN thread and at least centralize (minimize) the noise?

No don’t do that.

That would be a welcome development.

Football on Thanksgiving is a high school tradition all over New England. Its not usually uncomfortably cold until mid-December. January is the worst.

Pretty sure Georgia Tech should end their season right about now too.
