How many on this board are going to need to be committed when he wins?

As C-Ave notes, we will likely never know with certainty what happened with Talarico.
Folks on the hard right will remain convinced he was admitted to Lindner. People on the hard left will remain certain he had the flu.
I will remain skeptical either way.

None, because if it's legit, we'll accept the results and move on. And that's IF, not when.

Exactly.
I would be disappointed if Paxton lost, but not surprised given his shady past.
But at this point, voting for the worst Republican is better than voting for any Democrat.
Anyone who votes Democrat might as well sign their own death warrant.

Are you suggesting all rightwingers will accept the results, G-Coog? I would hope not. There will remain some conservatives who have allowed themselves to be convinced Talarico was admitted to a mental hospital. They will never be open to thinking otherwise.
Just like there are many leftwingers who are strongly convinced Don Trump engaged in a golden shower with Russian hookers (he did not). Their minds cannot be changed.
Some people believe what they want to read and hear — even if it's complete BS.

At this point it would be worse if he had the flu. He basically disappeared and his campaign didn’t know what to do. For two weeks. That part is indisputable.

Maybe it was kind of like Biden. They hid him in the basement because they knew if he opened his mouth, it hurt his chances!

That is weird. Unless he became severely dehydrated, he is down a few days tops. He is a relatively healthy young guy. Even if he did not want to spread any germs, he could have done some stuff by video.

RE: Talarico, back on the campaign trail, still leads in polls
Still in front
Quote:James Talarico’s chances of winning the Texas Senate race remain strong on prediction markets despite a nine-day absence from the campaign trail that became a target of Republican attacks.
The Democratic nominee and Texas Representative was priced at 63 percent to win on Kalshi and 64 percent on Polymarket on Sunday, October 11, compared with 37 percent for Republican Ken Paxton, the state’s attorney general.
In an excerpt of an on-camera interview posted to X Sunday by NBC Dallas-Fort Worth reporter Phil Prazan, Talarico said he had been recovering from the flu and denied claims that his absence involved a stress-induced episode or treatment.
Talarico said he had visited his primary care physician but was not hospitalized, describing his illness as a “nasty case of the flu.” He said he spent much of the period in bed, drinking fluids and working from home, while avoiding campaign events so he would not risk getting others sick.
Earlier Sunday, Rhein Amacher, a right-wing activist, posted on X that Talarico had recently been discharged from the Lindner Center of HOPE, a mental health facility in Ohio. Conservative influencer Nick Sortor later amplified the claim.
JT Ennis, a spokesperson for Talarico’s campaign, shared his response to Sortor with Newsweek via email, writing: “This is a lie designed to promote a pathetic conspiracy theory. Last week James Talarico was home in Austin, Texas recovering from the flu.”
The Lindner Center also denied the claim Sunday night, writing on X: “Representative James Talarico has never received treatment from Lindner Center of Hope.”
Asked specifically about social media claims that he had been receiving treatment for a stress-related episode, Talarico told Prazan: “That’s not true. I just had the flu and I feel much better.”
Talarico then turned to his Republican opponent after being asked about President Donald Trump’s call for the candidates to debate. He said he agreed with Trump and criticized Paxton for not agreeing to a debate, joking that while Paxton’s allies had demanded “proof of life” from him during his absence, “I’m asking for proof of spine from him.”
Talarico’s Odds Remain Strong
On September 28, Kalshi reported Talarico’s odds were at 60 percent versus Paxton’s 40 percent. According to Kalshi’s analysis of the Texas Senate race, during his absence, Talarico’s implied probability of winning fell from 66 percent to 63 percent by October 9, while Paxton’s rose from 34 percent to 37 percent. However, Talarico edged ahead of Paxton in a poll as he returned to the campaign trail. As reported by Newsweek, Democrat Talarico held a narrow lead over Paxton in a new Trafalgar poll of the Texas Senate race, following his first public appearance in more than a week.
Talarico, a state legislator, was up by more than 3 points in the poll of 1,086 likely voters in Texas, which was conducted from October 6 to 8. Talarico’s support stood at 47.1 percent, while 43.6 percent of respondents said they would vote for Paxton.
Many other polls have also pointed to close races with Talarico in the lead in Texas. As previously reported by Newsweek, Talarico led by 6 points in a September 21 to 30 survey from the Times and Siena University of 615 likely voters. Talarico’s support stood at 51 percent, while 45 percent of respondents said they would back Paxton. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.6 percentage points.
A YouGov poll also showed Talarico up 6 points, 50 percent to 44 percent, among 3,625 likely voters from September 28 to October 5. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
Each candidate received 45 percent in a recent poll of 850 likely voters from the University of Massachusetts Lowell Center for Public Opinion. Conducted from September 18 to 28, it had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.
The figures indicate that Talarico remains the favorite among prediction-market traders.... The market movement comes as the Texas Senate contest attracts national attention, with Democrats hoping to win a statewide race in a Republican stronghold.
