No article.....source?

I wondered the same thing. People just posting things. I hear Boise St asked to join the Big 10. Talks are getting serious.

That's the thing about randoms on X trying to parade like they're Adam Schefter. They hear something from a friend whose uncles former college roommate sister co-worker said and post it online for clicks claiming it's a valid source. Let's leave the reporting to the professionals.

Well--I Did say rumor.

But smoke also--it might not happen--or it may.

IMO the chances seem to have gone up at least somewhat.

One things for sure---Something concrete is going on behind the scenes.

If we're TBH I don't think they have the money to compete at the top of the MWC. They would need to significantly increase what they're spending on football. Not to mention find a new home for all their other sports. Unlike NIU I don't seem them being thrilled moving basketball to the Horizon, but they haven't had enough success to warrant a MVC bid either.

The question becomes would they rather be a big fish in a little pond or a little fish in a modestly larger pond. We've seen what happened when NIU joined the MWC and we've seen Rutgers in the B1G.

The email AD Tom Moreland sent to season ticket holders and donors stated he was aligning Toledo up to have them compete at the highest level possible, what that means I don’t know. Some took it as a sign things are happening or it could just be he’s getting the financial house in order.

I know they have been much more aggressive in contacting me and I’m not a big donor, so I’m guessing he is going after the corporate and big money donors hard. Is he raising enough to invest more money into athletics, no clue but they hired a guy that specializes in raising money.

Yeah, I hear Eastern Michigan has been pushing the Big 12 to join, and pressing that it wouldn't just be for football. Talks now got pretty in-depth, but EMU is sticking to them not to bring in Ball State and Sacramento State, which the Big 12 is heard to really want in the first place. Meanwhile, WMU is wanting to join CUSA, after turning down the P12's generous offer. 03-wink

I think Toledo off the bat would be in the top-tier of the MWC. Granted, some more money assumeably spent on travel, but I do hear Toledo's in a good/decent financial position. And they could have joined the MWC before (in talk about the new MWC just over a year ago, and NIU going; NIU never had much $$), and I don't think it was a lack of $$ for joining [a depleted] MWC.

Yeah, but it's not a 'bigger' conference than the MAC -- especially with UNLV likely going to P12 sometime soon. It'd be somewhat like saying Rutgers was a upper team most years in the ACC, but then joined the B1G and is at the bottom because the ACC compared to the B1G are essentially different leagues. :) NIU was 3-9 least year and in the MAC with new HC, and then joined/shifted to a more out-west conference and is playing worse under pretty new HC. That just makes the MAC look bad when looking at this off the bat.

Wyoming is #2 in the MW conference so far. Wyoming. And also the team that @CMU solidly beat, and CMU is not a MAC powerhouse this year or something at all. Food for thought. :)

Sure, it's a bigger conference than the MAC. Look at what those athletic programs, particularly in the top half, are spending and then compare it to the MAC. Look at any rating metric. Looking at Massey I'm counting 8 MAC teams in the bottom 20 FBS teams, nearly 2/3 of the conference. MWC has 2 teams in the bottom 20. Top to bottom it's a better conference. Not the leap of a P4, but still noticeably better.

If UNLV wanted out they would have joined the PAC-8 when everyone else did. They had an offer on the table, but turned it down. They still might end up joining, but that will probably a few years down the road.

They said Ferris passed out at 31 Flavors, guessing that's why he needed a new kidney, and then we all find out that was not true.

"Particular the top half" says there's a bigger gap from top of the conference to the bottom of the conference. Of course, there's a lag in our official numbers, which at present come from the "pre-split" MWC, so we'll have to see whether the "new" MWC is going to spend like they are the number two Go5 conference, or like they are the 4th of the Go6.

And that has worked out so well for NIU 07-coffee3

Let's see what NIU can do with a new AD and HC.
