RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 1
Have to actually give the Cats credit for digging in their heels and not giving up. They had a decent 2nd qtr despite some of the stats. At the half, ACU has 81 total yards to Tech's 274, but they only have3 penalties compared to last week. They also got an interception and held Tech to a FG before finally getting down and scoring a FG themselves. I can't argue with 3-17 halftime score if we can keep up this type of pressure and get a little more offense going. We get the ball to start the 2nd half.

I knew this would be an interesting game but honestly thought UCA would give UWF a better fight after their first game showing. UWF is really coming out to play.

Yeah, it’s 42-7 in the middle of the 3rd.

RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 1
Well, the final in Lubbock is 10-33 and we forced them to keep their first string in until the final few minutes. So, I have to call that a win for us. If we can get our offense going, our defense has really seemed to settle in some. We just have to keep tightening it up.

RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 1
Strong Defensive Showing by ACU vs Tech QB Hammond performance which I’d rate a C+

Glad ACU represented and didn’t get blown out

I’d say ACU QB outplayed Hammond

Tarleton QB would be an upgrade to Hammond

If Tech QB doesn’t improve and the Tech D is not at the same level a year ago not only will they not win the Big 12 Hammond will not be the Starter next year

ACU RB Broome is a beast no arm tackling of this guy

QB Black will improve a saw a lot of upside but needs seasoning

Overall a decent showing but I think at this point Tech is a bit over rated. Not to say they won’t improve but definitely not where I saw other elite FBS programs in week 1

RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 1
ACU and UNA actually did a lot better than I expected. I did not think either would beat the spread to be honest. UCA was highly disappointing, I thought that was going to be a close game either way, but UWF spanked thier little heinies. EKU was another huge disappointment losing badly to a bad team even though they are bad by FBS standards. Tarleton, AP, and UWG performed about as I expected more or less.

No one is as disappointed as EKU fans. Totally unacceptable, if there is no improvement going forward THIS season, a change must be made. Should have been done last November, there's been way too much time given to mediocrity.

I feel like the UNA, EKU, and UCA coaches are on the hot seat this season. Can they save their jobs? Will be interesting.

It’s early but WF has to be at least mentioned as a favorite to win the conference title

I think Tarleton State is farther ahead right now than we are. I can tell you that Pensacola is going to be buzzing and rocking when Austin Peay comes to town!! We've had great success at the D2 level and some really big games but I have to admit this all seems even cooler to be doing it at the FCS level.

Go Argos!

Welcome to the UAC. I thought along WF was going to come onboard. Valdosta St wants to as well but $$$ may be the issue there.

WF has shown already they are ready to compete at the FCS level. The transition is tough. Usually the first two years are better if the talent brought in from D2 stays. The last two are more difficult because there isn’t a whole lot of players who want to play for pride. That being said Tarleton managed all four years with decent winning records. I believe we played some D2s as well after moving up.

Great win and good luck moving forward except against the Texans

ACU did well initially, then started falling off later in the transition. It took us a little bit to get our traction again. When we first went DI, we still had a large portion of our star DII guys. You're correct, once those left, the recruiting was harder for a bit. We figured it out. Tarleton did better from the get go.

RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 1
UWF has been impressive so far. Hard to believe they were picked last in the pre season rankings. I think they are top 3 or 4 depending if ACU can improve as the season profresses. Right now, here is how I would rank the teams, of course it can change week to week.

1.Tarleton
2. Austin P
3. UWF
4. UNA
5. UCA
6. ACU
7. EKU
8. UWG

4-7 are pretty fluid and the only reason I ranked UCA over ACU was because of the UTM win. I think UWG is the clear bottom dwellar. EKU has also been less than impressive. UNA ACU and UCA all are questionable as to how good or bad they really are but UNA seems to be the most improved.

FCS transition has been reduced to 3 years. That 4th year set teams back. But the portal and NIL has made that 4th year of no consequence. If W Florida has the money, they will be fine in 3 years.

RE: UAC FOOTBALL: WEEK 1
Nice win for Tarleton and the UAC. Two games in and we're averaging just under 500 yards/game on offense. Only problem with that is our two opponents have averaged 450+ yards/game. Front 7 continues to struggle with mobile QBs and downhill RBs on defense. On the flip side our OL continues to dominate with their zone blocking scheme. Coach Cary really deserves a ton of credit for everything he does with those guys, year in and year out. Tarleton is turning into "Running Back U" and the DUDES up front are a major reason why. McNeese on the road will be our toughest challenge so far. They've brought their longtime HC back and he is quickly turning things around. They played SFA tough on the road, and Coach Carthel has another damn good team this year. If we can get past McNeese, we then have Merimack and Chicago State at home, sandwiching our bye-week. Perfect opportunity to get backups some live action while allowing starters to get healthy before conference play. Shaping up to be really nice piece of scheduling this year, actually. 04-cheers

Thanks BlueDragon! Yeah from my understanding it's 3 years now. I have never really understood the reasoning for it but I understand it was like that for everyone making the jump and used to be even longer. Hopefully we survive the next few years ok. It's been a lot of fun so far. Another great opportunity next weekend against our toughest opponent yet!
