You don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.

First, a “100-year storm” means that an extreme weather event (let’s say, a flood) of some magnitude has a 1% chance of occurring at ONE specific location in any given year.

Assuming stationarity, if you have, let’s suppose, 10,000 different towns, it can be expected that 100 of those towns will experience a “100-year-flood” every year. This can be applied to forest fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, and blizzards too.

By definition, hundred-year storms are normal and always have been.

As for glaciers, well, they began receding long before mankind began pumping CO₂ into the atmosphere. So, not all of that is able to be blamed on our carbon sins.

I’d tell you to stick to politics, but you aren’t really good at that either because the U.S. is running a $40 trillion-dollar deficit.

I was making the same point.... but I'd also note that for centuries prior, those had different names as well. I don't have a problem with either name... or even both. I recently stayed at Lago di Braise, also known as Pragser Wildsee... they essentially go by both, existing between Italian and Austrian heritages

One has to wonder... was Denali the unanimous choice of the various tribes in the area 1000 years ago? If not, why aren't the other choices similarly re-adopted?

As for the Gulf of Mexico, it could have just as easily been the Gulf of Florida or the Gulf of Yucatan, or the Gulf of Columbus. I think we ought to rename it The Gulf of Dr. Jill. That would pass muster with some people.

And for those who think places shouldn't be renamed, I am OK with calling that city run by Mamdani, New Amsterdam.
