A huge blow to CU and the Big East. But we all knew this was coming.

Greg McDermott did a fantastic job. VERY talented (and underrated) coach. Seems like a likable person, too.

Sad to see him go. Should be interesting to see how it affects recruiting in the portal this off season.

He deserves a statue for what he's done for that program. Not sure how Huss will fare going forward, but at least the transition was designed to be smoother than a coaching change after a sudden retirement.

Yup, Huss does have a lot of history with the program. He also built the High Point team that beat Wisconsin and took Arkansas down to the last minute just a few days ago. All those High Point seniors came to High Point via the portal while Huss was the head coach. Will be interesting to see how much he uses the portal with the Jays.

Tip of the cap to a great career. He elevated Creighton to new heights and successfully led them into the Big East (and Doug was instrumental to establishing our reformed league with star power).

Huss has big shoes to fill, but I think he will do very well.

Sad to see him go. When Huss came over I thought it was a 2 year plan for him to become HC. Thought we had one more year of McDermott before he left, was kind of hoping that was the case so he could go out with a tournament caliber team.

Great coach, seemed like a great guy from afar. Hope Huss follows in his footsteps not just in terms of his success but also by being a stand up guy the way McDermott was.

I don't think Creighton fans should he worried about Huss. As others have noted he's a damn good coach. I don't foresee much of a dropoff.

I was hoping for at least one more year, but still happy he retired with us. Could have easily left for probably more money when Ohio State was looking. I think Huss is a great hire for us and I like that everyone seems to be on board and happy. But you just never know how these things will go. Hopefully it’s a smooth transition and he keeps up the streak of long term coaches (McDermott was 16 seasons and Altman who proceeded him was also 16 seasons).

We’ve lost our long term AD, Coach McDermott, and Coach Booth all within the last few years. However I think it reflects well on the school and none of them left for other colleges.

Would be pretty neat if Creighton had 3 coaches over a span of 48 years and all of them were there for exactly 16 years

Haha, I’m sure the announcers during March Madness would never cease to bring it up if that happens
