Pro Football HOF to change voting rules after brouhaha this year?
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/4785...son-voting

The Pro Football Hall of Fame will consider making changes to the voting panel and process of choosing Hall of Famers following a year when Bill Belichick's omission from the 2026 class generated outrage.

Hall of Fame president Jim Porter said in an interview after the five-player class was announced Thursday night that there are several possible tweaks that could be made, adding that those changes aren't specific to Belichick's perceived snub.

Yeah, right, they might not be directly due to Belichick's snub, but the outcry was 100% due to that, and the HOF exists as a separate entity from the NFL solely at the NFL's discretion. That KC writer's explanation of his strategic voting plan was particularly bad, as that directly contravenes the stated rules of the HOF voting procedure. Doubtless, there were others who had similar ideas but just didn't air them in public. I'm guessing that Andy Reid can't count on any Patriots beat writer votes for the HOF down the road...

It was not a big deal really. Goodell refused to enforce penalties on his 2 decades of rampant cheating. So the sportswriters gave him a one year snub from HOF.

Joe Dimaggio didn't make the HOF until his 3rd try. He had more HRs than strikeouts.

Putting coaches and players on the same ballot was dumb.

When DiMaggio hit the ballot, eligibility criteria was still fuzzy.
