The absolute best concert I ever attended, and I've attended a ton since my first one in 1970 (GFR, btw, !!!!), was at Vanderbilt stadium on May 8, 1994 during their Division Bell tour. I was blown away, as were my then 15 year old son and 12 year old daughter. They still talk about it.

I've been to a lot of concerts since then, but none better. The only one that comes close was seeing the Stones on July 4, 1975 at Liberty Bowl Stadium in Memphis. Man, it was brutally hot. They were hosing down the crowds; it was scorching. The band was supposed to come out on stage riding elephants, but the elephants wouldn't cooperate, or there was some question as to whether the stage would even support them, but for whatever reason that never materialized, and the crowd wasn't too pleased. And then Furry Lewis, a local—and nationally known—bluesman, was supposed to open the show but didn't show up because he had no ride. They wouldn't start without him, so they sent someone to pick him up. That was one crazy day, assisted along with a hit of windowpane acid. Wheeeeeeeeeeeee...

I was right down in the middle of the field with 54,499 other people. What a blast. J.Geils, The Meters and the Charlie Daniels Band opened for them



They stopped having concerts there after that because they kept finding weed growing on the football field afterwards.
