Houston Comets to return (Connecticut Sun sale)
Rockets owner Tillman Fertitta is supposedly making inroads to buy the Connecticut Sun from the Mohegan tribe.

Would they revive the Houston Comets if so?

I suppos the WNBA will eventually wrestle an expansion fee out of Boston.

I feel like the potential buyers from Boston got screwed here. They probably did not bid on an expansion team last time because there was already an existing WNBA team right down the road in Conn. Conn and Boston are close enough together they are kinda in the same market. It makes perfect sense to me to let Boston buy the team and move the team to Boston.

They have to deal with the league though,. The league makes decisions as to what markets own teams.

And no, Boston and Connecticut are not the same market, there's even a State and part of Massachusetts in between.

Its less than a 2 hour drive from the Conn Sun Arena and the Boston Celtics arena. Its the same market.

Since when is two hours the same market? Especially in New England? We're not talking about the Red Sox here.

You can drive between New York and Philly in under two hours. They must be the same market too.

Its the same market because Boston did not bid on a WNBA franchise because the Sun was already there in Conn. The same Sun franchise that were played and sold out a couple of their home games in the Boston Celtic's arena.
