It was at roughly 3% for all of 2024 and is still at roughly the same level. This is where I actually agree with Trump, that I think the Fed has been way too slow to lower rates, as I am of the belief that most of the inflation was supply side and "greedflation" rather than demand side that they needed to crush with rate hikes in the first place. IMO Powell has not done a good job and you wouldn't hear me argue if Trump did fire him. I'm not bothered by the precedent it would set, I actually think monetary policy should be more tied to public sentiment and the will of the people than what the "smartest guys in the room" think it should be.
You sure you ain’t been red-pilled?
Not in the least, because I can see far enough in the future to want a president who's more in line with my political view points to have the ability to get rid of people who are trying to hold up their agenda, and pretending the Fed should be a non-political entity is stupid IMO.
You don't have to deny it. Your friends are leaving that party in droves, so there's no need to feel ashamed. Accept your newfound independence, free from the rigid constraints of groupthink, and be free to develop your own opinions based on critical observations that let you use your mind's capacity for independent thought rather than what the party's leaders want you to think.
Think of it as your very own private Independence Day!
I left the Dem Party in 2020, I've been a registered independent for 5 years now, and I can't see that ever changing unless I were to move to a state where I had to have a party registration to vote in primaries. It ain't because I'm moving more "right" though. I promise you I hate the Dems more than you can possibly imagine, and if the GOP actually wanted to support positions I support I'd consider voting for them. Hell, if they'd get just somewhat in line with something I support economically I'd set aside my disagreements on many social issues. At times people like Bannon, Hawley, and Vance will say things I agree with, Trump even does every once in a while. The big problem is the occasional points of agreement are the things they drop the quickest (because the rest of the GOP is completely against them) and then the only things that end up going through are the things I disagree with the most.
