The brainwashed college student masses. All they know is what their "Professors" have told them and what they see in their social media bubbles. They all still live with someone else. So, their life is Socialism. They can't live independently and really don't ever want to. I see it every day with my daughter's friends. She is the ONLY one of here peer group from high school that is married and owns a home and a car. She is 25 and has been off my payroll for over 2 years. My son is 21 and is totally off of my payroll now. He pays for EVERYTHING on his own and is still in college. Just passed his Army pilot's written aptitude test today. Goes this Summer for his physical exam which he will master.

Well, going through age 29 is well past just college age.

And good luck to your son on his new endeavor.

Unlike the Feds, NYC cannot print money. They have to operate within their revenue and NYC already has a budget shortfall in the billions

The Wall Street Journal published an article about the cost of Mamdani's promises and the plan to pay for it. https://www.wsj.com/us-news/the-economic...s-71551f5a

Here are the highlights:

Revenue
1. Raise the highest state corporate tax rate from 7.25% to 11.5% and generate - per Mandani's campaign- $5 billion dollars.
a. Approval needed from State of NY
b. no explanation given about how the money would flow back to NYC from the State
c. Creates incentive for businesses to leave and/or raise prices in NYC and not necessarily elsewhere. T"he overwhelming majority of New York’s corporate tax revenue stems from a small percentage of corporations...." My aside: tax revenue could take a major hit with just a few firms exiting NYC. Remember, public firms have a fiduciary duty to take actions to increase shareholder value. They will have to justify how paying more taxes when other alternatives are available are in the shareholders financial interest.
d. My aside: Corporate taxes revenues are volatile because they are highly dependent on profitability. An economic downtown will almost certainly result in less tax revenue.

2. "Millionaire's Tax" - $4 billion according to Mamdani campaign
a. "Mamdani’s proposal would make the combined city and state personal income-tax rate the highest in the country for those earning a little over $1 million..."
b. Approval needed from State of NY
c. Creates an incentive for the targeted people to leave
d. Income tax revenues are volatile because they are highly dependent on amount of income. An economic downtown or stock market decline will almost certainly result in less tax revenue.

Costs:
1. Universal child care - $6 billion annually according to Mamdani campaign. Other cost estimates range up to $9.5 billion.

2. New rent stabilized units - $7 billion annual for ten years
a. "The $70 billion borrowing plan exceeds the city’s current debt limit". State of NY approval needed to raise the debt limit.
b. Bond interest rates could potentially increase.

3. Rent freeze on rent-stabilized units - eventual annual cost could be around $3 billion
a. Creates incentive for landlords to take units off the market or provide less maintenance and upkeep.

4. Fast and free buses - about $800,000,000 annually per Mamdani campaign. "MTA CEO Janno Lieber has said the cost of free buses could start approaching $1 billion annually in the next several years."
a. A $3 billion recurring budget MTA shortfall already exists

My aside: If you see a revenue/cost matching problem, it is not your imagination. Using the article's figures, total projected annual revenue increases (assuming no one leaves and no economic downturn) is $9 billion while total projected annual expenses are at least $13.8 billion and very likely more.

My guess is New York is about to enter a Detroit like spiral where the "well to do" flee the cities taxing power. Once that begins----its a self licking ice cream cone of destruction. More well to do leave, the city needs to raise taxes even higher on the well to do who remain in the city----spurring even more high earners to leave. Eventually, the high earners and companies that can leave will---leaving behind a city full of folks who want free stuff they cant pay for----and no high earners left to pay for it. Lucky there will be a Communist State Owned Grocery Store----otherwise there probably would not be a grocery store left in that nutty town. So---I guess this commie plan will at least keep NY from becoming a food desert. I wonder how long before the stock exchanges exit stage left.....and the fantastic state owned grocery store starts looking like the bare shelved Russian groceries of the late stage USSR.
All part of the plan. I explained what they want to happen. The wealthy leave, Real Estate values sink, then the state offers grants to increase "housing" and the Muslim leaders use the money to buy up the buildings and fill them with Muslim Immigrants and the tax payers of the state pay for them to live there. We've seen this all before. They're locusts.

Or they turn the whole city into a prison and wait for Snake Plissken to save them.

RE: Mamdani to face reality
There is no silver bullet for Mamdani. He will be the face of socialism in this country until most of us are dead ( or he dies). He doesn’t have to be remotely successful in order to be seen as a success by his supporters. He will do what Obama did. Triangulation. When Mamdani occasionally succeeds he will trumpet it from the rooftops. When he fails he will blame it on… ( take your pick) Zionist, Republicans, Caucasians, racism, anti Muslim sentiment etc. We saw how successful Barrack the Magical Negro was at triangulation. It kept the Republicans in check for nearly 8 years for fear of being called “racist”.

Republicans thought they were fighting the man… Obama. However, Obama might as well have been an android… he was as the well coifed point of the spear for a movement. The progressive movement had hand picked a personable light skinned mixed race man as their Trojan horse candidate. Obama was so smooth that he helped republicans, whites, heterosexuals etc to vote against their own self interests.

Mamdani is just a well coifed figurehead for the socialist movement. It will take a long time, perhaps decades, for people to see him for what he is…. an anti American communist who hates America as much as he hates Jews.

Yeah, they tend to bring their old politics with them. I think Colorado is a not too distant example.

The target is NYC businesses. Tennessee is a relatively poor state and we need all the economic growth we can muster.

Furthermore, the target group are too small in number to make much of a difference in elections and at least some of them are sane politically.

He has been redpilled; it's just that he hasn't completely broken the bonds that will allow him to admit it. It's been interesting to watch his progression.

Trump is doing everything I voted for.

He can't conceive of such a thing since the loons he votes for never deliver on their campaign promises.

Not in the least, because I can see far enough in the future to want a president who's more in line with my political view points to have the ability to get rid of people who are trying to hold up their agenda, and pretending the Fed should be a non-political entity is stupid IMO.

You don't have to deny it. Your friends are leaving that party in droves, so there's no need to feel ashamed. Accept your newfound independence, free from the rigid constraints of groupthink, and be free to develop your own opinions based on critical observations that let you use your mind's capacity for independent thought rather than what the party's leaders want you to think.

Think of it as your very own private Independence Day!

Even a ton of Dems know NYC really messed up. As usual, some deflect to Trump when they can't even agree amongst themselves. It's a coping mechanism.

So the begs the question, what happens in 4 years when the next big city election has a Mamdani clone running to do the same thing... will the people still be dumb enough to vote for M2.0?

The under 35 crowd were the most excited about him. The current batch of college kids are turning more Conservative. The miserable, single white women will because they are single for a reason. And of course, there is the gimme free pshit crowd. Those might be the only ones left in certain places. The "normal" working folks will want to be around other similar people. We are in the process of a big segregation movement in this country. This time it is being done by "government" indirectly. When you run out of the white working class in an area, the place goes to pshit.

I have one daughter, two brothers, a nephew and his family, and some cousins I see at holiday events still in the Memphis area. Were it not for my daughter and a baby brother who is battling lung cancer, I'd leave here. I have 5 acres on a 400-acre farm given to me by my best friend in Raymer, TN, just waiting on me to make the decision to leave and build myself a small cabin up there. I have a 200-acre farm in North Memphis that I was going to build on, but it is literally on the other side of the road on the Memphis-Shelby County line, and we've had multiple break-ins just this year. We've had two four-wheelers stolen, and my hunting cabin has been trashed twice. We have cameras up everywhere, and hell, they even steal those when they can get to them.

Back around 2004 I think it was, Willie Herenton, the former mayor of Memphis, said in an interview, when asked about people leaving Memphis, specifically referencing white flight, he famously responded with, "If you don't like it, leave." I was gone by 2005. I moved to Atoka. 20 years ago it was still largely rural, quiet, and peaceful, and I loved it. Memphis has followed me out here, and I'm ready to move even farther away from Memphis.

Not anymore. They stay in college forever because they don't have any skills or a degree that can make them any money. That's why they are loaded down in so much debt.
And thanks. He's fired up about it. He's out at the range now and will be all weekend sleeping outside with the ROTC classes. It's supposed to rain most of the weekend and he wants to see all of the "sheltered kids" pissin and moanin about being miserable. He loves that part of it. Used to do it out in the woods by the creek when he was in high school. Pshitier the better, he always said.

Of course nothing is "free", everyone understands that. Your gotcha is super pathetic. Everyone understands for example that people not having to pay to call the police or have fire fighters come to their house isn't "free", we just all decided as a society we should pay taxes to have those services vs paying for them at the point of service or not being able to have them at all. If New Yorkers want to agree to pay more in taxes to have free at the point of service buses that's their choice. If the people that voted against that want to leave instead of paying more taxes for it then that's their choice. Never seen more crying about the least revolutionary proposals ever in a city I'm pretty certain none of you live in.
