True, which is why he also is asking China and Iran.
Iran is empty too. I wouldnt be surprised if the Russians send some anti-air assets there. Yes, they need them desperately elsewhere---but the Russians would probably love to collect some S-400 radar data on F-35's and stealth bombers in action for deep dive analysis on ways to detect those platforms. Thats one reason we would not sell Turkey F-35's if they were going to buy S-400's from Russia. Of course, that will fly over heads of the Russian cheerleaders on the board who actually believe Russia is our loving friend and Godly protector of Christian heterosexuals.
I really dont think we will invade. I suspect the idea is to hang a sword over his head by a thread and just let the pressure build---hoping internal political forces eventually make retaining power impossible for Maduro. That said, it wouldnt surprise me if we provided help---even air strikes----to any uprising that might need it to wrest control from Maduro.
AC. I usually agree with you, but not this time. I'm almost certain Trump is going to go in and take him out, by whatever means necessary. He already has said he views Maduro exactly like ISIS, and you know what Trump did to them.
Maduro is a dictator who took the country after losing the election with only maybe 30% of the vote.
In several gaggles on AF1 lately, Trump has mentioned doing exactly that. If he's talking openly about it, he's doing it.
I also don't think he believes the opposition has the ability to take out Maduro, so that leaves us. He is not going to sit there and let Maduro keep killing Americans through his drug trafficking.
Maduro is actually the head of his own cartel, and Trump views him just as he does Sinaloa and the others.
The difference is, Trump doesn't have a legit president of the country begging him to hold off. In fact, the opposition party would welcome it.
He certainly has assembled a ton of assets there. That said---I just dont see him sending troops into a place that could easily become a quagmire forever war. I think he's waiting for internal forces to topple Maduro. I DO think he would aid an internal group that just needed a little help to get the job done---but a straight up full on invasion in a situation where its not really necessary----I feel is very unlikely with this president. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.
Well, Trump said yesterday that he's not going in, so that likely is that.
However, just to be clear, I didn't intend to imply that we would start a never ending full out war with troops on the ground. I just meant that we might send in a team to assassinate him.
That's what I meant by saying "take him out." That's way different than invading a country and starting a war. And then we would deny it was us who assassinated him, lol.

His final choice. Neither sees him making it to the next election.
