I don't mind a foil at all. It's the batchit crazies that get on my nerves.

For example, mlb is a foil, billdazzle is a foil. Posters like them contribute though. I mostly disagree with them, but they often offer valid points.

Tom and tanq are batchit crazy and contribute nothing. If one of them said the sky is blue I'd have to go outside and look. There are a handful of others that fit in with them.


edit: I do not mean to imply that just because I disagree with a poster they are wrong. I am wrong all the time. Just ask either of my ex-wives.

Houston has so many pro teams and even more college teams than there are in many other states. To compete for attention, a school like Rice has to be phenomenal. It was a Friday night; there were lots of HS ball games, and it was also Halloween.

Surely on another day they would have had better attendance.

Not necessarily. Rice is one of the smallest D1 schools. And honestly puts emphasis on collegiate sports as secondary.

As a result the major programs simply meet survival level, and attendance the same.

Different focus. But somehow to a certain pinhead, it is a major issue.
